I've been wondering how many people here, especially those posting often, have begun to post something, and then reconsider halfway through typing the message.

If I posted everything without reconsideration I would have had an extra 300 to 400 posts or so. :D

So have you guys ever done that before, or do it often, before, during, or after a few of your posts?

Yeah, I usually hit the back button though.

I have plenty of useless posts, but most were images I couldn't attach or something.

I wish we had an option to delete posts, but you have to be a demi for that.http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/veronica/damn.gif

I'm with Ed. Sometimes I realize I just ramble on about nothing....that's when I push the back button:p

Ha, 300 - 400 posts, that's a pretty high percentage. I think I might have done it only 20 times myself, and that's being generous. That would put it at 1 every 400 posts. And I usually do it by just hitting the back button. Oddly enough, I did one today - weird.

yeah well there have been a few times (usually when Im over-tired) that I replied to a post and then thought "you know that was just stupid...." and regretted it, but thats what the edit is for right?:p

Actually on a fairly regular basis. If I posted everything I began typing I would have been banned by now. Luckily common sense intervenes most of the time.

I think I just did that today...posted a stupid comment about polls, then had to edit it to say "Never mind."

Nah never would have though of that, and it's not a Friday so you can't blame booze.

But...

After reading a thread like this, you begin wondering if the back button is broken on some people's machines.

when I start typing, and realize that what I am typing makes no
sense, then I stop. I either just say 'fork' it, or I retype my post.

I've definitely done this more times than I can count.

Sometimes I start a reply, then realize I misunderstood the previous post and actually have nothing to contribute on what they actually said.

now i'm wondering if anyone's done it on this thread.

You might want to check that filter you're using - I think half the time its letting things through that shouldn't. ;)

... back button for me too... I like the threads still though, just realized my two cents was in Canadian funds.

I think there's been a few times where I've had something typed out then I just hit the back button and disregarded even posting...

this is usually when I decide my thoughts are completely useless...

has nothing to do with useless posts though...just when I find I am nearly repeating something someone else has said... ;)

I have irrational fear of back buttons so i just cmd+a>delete and then close the window just to be sure :D

Don't be modest--you post plenty of things that make no sense. :D <ducks>

I stop and go back quite a lot. I see something that makes me react emotionally and I start typing things and then I think that no one else wants to see it. Besides, it might escalate things unecessarily.

Let me make a guess:

From the looks of things, you rarely retype your posts.

Yes every once in a while I start typing posts that are sure to get the thread closed. I usually then erase it and type something else. Every once in a while, I post something that pisses someone off though.

Yeah I've done this plenty of times... I just stop in the middle of my writing and I go "okay, I don't realyl need to write this"... and then I click the back button. :D

I've found myself doing it more and more lately...

Dunno why...just seems that the internal censor is a bit louder than it used to be.

Plus, threads often get to the point where there is little left of relevance to be added...

...wait...

...crap...nevermind...:D
