I have one of the early PowerBook G4/400 MHz with the DVD drive. I had a problem with my keyboard recently, and I sent to Apple for a new one, which I installed just fine - except now my DVD drive seems to have stopped working. I slide something in the slot and it doesn't respond at all. It doesn't even attempt to take it in. Any ideas? Is it something I can fix, or do I need to send it in?

Try Resetting The PMU. TO learn how to do it visit http://www.apple.com/support Click on the menu for type of computer, and then check the FAQ It should be there.

Here's a link to the PMU reset info...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449&SaveKCWindowURL=http%3A%2F%2Fkbase.info.apple.com%2Fcgi-bin%2FWebObjects%2Fkbase.woa%2Fwa%2FSaveKCToHomePage&searchMode=Assisted&kbhost=kbase.info.apple.com&showButton=false&randomValue=100&showSurvey=false&sessionID=anonymous
Not sure if it'll do the trick though...I'd call Apple back if it doesn't work.
