Does anyone know the rated output of the iPod in Millivolts? Apple publishes it in Milliwatts but this doesn't help without there rated amperage also.

That would depend on the inductance of the load.

I have a friend without a stereo in his car. He does have speakers and an amplifier though. The amplifier is rated at a minimum of 250mv input. I can't remember the maximum input. I'm just trying to aquire the information for him. He's not an Apple person he just happens to have an iPod. I recommended to him to just hook it to the amp with the volume all the way down and slowly turn it up and see if it worked. I think he will do this as soon as he gets home. We spent the day together here in Oregon yesterday but he lives in Colorado and will not be home to try it out until next week sometime.
