Reapplying for Apple Store job

I had a group interview w/ 8 other people about a month ago for a Mac Specialist job. We all filled out background checks at the end of the session. They were only hiring for one position and I didn't get the call back. An Apple retail consultant e-mailed me that I did pass the background check. I checked w/her because I missed a couple of phone calls that I thought were the background check company. In the last week, I've noticed that 3 more openings have popped up. Would I have to reapply again? Should I just call and talk to the manager since she gave us her business card? It would make sense to hire someone who's already passed the background check. I want to show that I'm interested without being a pest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah Apple does background checks on everyone who applies for a job... sort of annoying because that means you have to apply for the job upwards of a month before actually expecting to start work :eek:

Could somebody who had a DV conviction from 7 years ago, or a non-theft felony get a job with Apple Retail? Seems a bit overkill for a low-wage job. What about somebody with bad credit? :confused:

Getting a background check is getting more common today. Yes, it does take a little longer to finally get hired, but at least you know that the person you are working with isn't a convicted felon or was discharged from the military because of drug use or physical abuse. It's not only to protect the company, but also the employees that work there too.

Oh, so where is a convicted felon supposed to work? Are they supposed to sell drugs on the street corner? So what is the problem of somebody using drugs in the military?

is it just me or is apple looking for a specific type of employee at their apple stores? i have never seen an individual working their that is younger than age 25 or older than 40 for that matter.. and i have been to five of them in my surrounding area. :o

Up until last week I would have agreed, but wouldn't you know it I walk in and this kid offers to help me, I swear he was only like 15. Personally I didn't care, the kid knew what he was talking about. :)

There is a fine line from being called a pest to being called assertive, and confident. I would definitely call the manager, she gave you her contact info for a reason. If she is interested she will call you back, if she doesn't call back try calling one more time. If she doesn't get back to you after the second try, I would say she is not interested, or is a crappy manager.

Really? That means I could get a job there. And I don't have a criminal record either.

There's an older dude who works in the Apple store at the Chandler mall here in Phoenix. I'd say he's in his late 50's, early 60's. Super nice guy...

In the US, that is pretty much the case. You generally won't get hired at most companies if you have felony conviction.

So what is the problem of somebody using drugs in the military?

Well, they look more for general drug use (not just if you used in the military...most Americans do not serve in the military) because most employers believe that someone who is currently on drugs is not going to be reliable or, more likely, will steal from the company to get drug money.
