Don't you?
Why every time it rains here in wonderful Bay area, the wind blows and when the wind blows, trees fall and when trees fall, they take power lines with them and as a result my house has no power and then we have to turn on the generator which never wants to start and when if finally does, there is nothing to do except watch bad Adam Sandler movies.
I love rain.

Yes, I love rain. It brings cleaning, freshness, & renewal. New life. Rain itself isn't destructive, its the storm with the wind, thunder, & lightening that does the damage! April showers bring may flowers. The air always smells so fresh after a rain! :)

yeah I feel more "at ease" or just comfortable when it rains, Im sure the same would go for snow but it doesnt really snow too often in Florida.....that will change when I move to Philly though.

Yeah, the rain itself isn't so bad I guess, it's what comes with it (loss of power, fallen trees sh|tty generator)
On a similar note, I've just heard thunder in the first time in the two years that I've been here.

hmm.. there seems to be lots of problems with loss of power due to natural disasters in the US... here in Tokyo the only loss of power we've had in my whole lifetime was once when they were putting in a new machine in the building.. and that lasted, what, 15 to 20 seconds.

Edvinow where in the Bay are you?
I am in Cupertino, and the weather today was awesome. We didnt lose power, but my grandparents lost telephone. These storms are nothing compared to the storms I experienced in Louisiana. Those were storms...

I live in this little hick town about 20 miles out of Santa Cruz.
Bunch of ex-hippies live here too.
Never fails, when it rains here, we lose power. Can't wait to move out.
And yeah, I guess these are wussie storms compared to some in the midwest, it's just there are so many mountains and trees, it sorta redirects the wind towards my town and knocks down all the power lines.

It's been raining here(San Jose) for quite sometime now (a few hours) and I am glad, happy, etc. I haven't seen weather remotely this rough in a long while when you think about it "good" weather is both a blessing and a burden w/ no drasticly chaning weather, only earthquakes.

When it rains where I'm from, we go crazy... The rail is usually just enough to re-arrange the dust that's been sitting on the streets for months... The rain also has tons of dirt in it, so everything is kinda dirty, or at least my car is. This September, I think, we had some good showers.... This is what it did.

This is some dumb@$$ who thought he could go fast... Even my truck had to go slow (but that's mainly because if the engine got wet, it would die...) There was one car stalled out down the road...

Yup, it's the valley! We had some tropical something, or whatever, and it just dumped tons of rain for 2 days... It did it again the next weekend, and the ground was already saturated... it's very uncommon for my street to flood like that, but other streets in McAllen can flood easily (don't ask me how, because there are no hills...)

In the desert we don't have puddles to gather the rain, we usually call those things potholes - since those normally are the spots that fill with water on the roads.

Rain is good, but like all things only in moderation. We got too much rain a couple weeks ago and our sump pump failed to turn on and the basement got flooded - a day after we installed brand new carpeting - not good.

if that is a problem for you, you might look into getting a second battery powered sump pump.
my house has a sump pump, and although the part of the basement it is in is not finished, and is lower than any finished part, we still got a second battery powered pump.
it just piggy backs on the ac pump and you just set it to trigger if the water is higher than it would be if the ac one were working. this way you are not buying new carpet if the power goes out and it is raining. call it a one time fee insurance policy.

I too love rain. I get a little mad when the weather dude tells me we are having "bad" weather when it is rainy. I want to tell the weather dude, "Stop making value judgements about the weather and just report the facts." :)

i love rain when it falls in huge, warm drops around the middle of June, and the sky is a dark blueish-gray. The sky looks threatening, but far away, and we used to just run around in the downpour in bare feet up and down the unnaturally warm road. I love the warm smell that accompanies summer thunder storms, it goes right to your head. We'd usually finish the day by swimming in huge puddles that form at the base of my neighborhood, and come home soaked, but not really feeling wet.

Rain is all right. Unless it turns into a tornado.
I was driving to the store a few years ago, and heard on the radio that a tornado just went through near where I was going. Well, I figured, I'm still thirty miles from my destination, so I should be ok. Anyhow, five minutes later, my car was pelted with hail, and rain coming down so hard I couldn't see. I looked up expecting to see the tornado, and instead saw one of the most frightening (and beautiful) acts of nature that I had ever seen. the clouds had parted in one small part of sky, and I saw red, green, pink and blue flashing around in this small spot of sky. It lasted only for a moment, then the clouds covered it over.
Needless to say, the tree branches and hail bouncing off my car helped to break my reverie. I did a quick 180 and high tailed it up to a gas station I passed a mile back. I ran inside, and the rain was coming down so hard it was working its way around the door frame. They also had a small crack in the lower corner of the plate window, and rain was being forced through it, flooding the counter top, and floor.
The storm was one of the most powerful I have ever seen, and also the most beautiful.

Last January I was listening to the morning radio weather report here in Seattle where it went something like this:
"Temperatures will stay in the low forties today with continuing rain showers until..." a pause and some paper shuffles "...uhhm, ah, continuing rain showers until late April."
I almost drove off the road laughing, but it pretty much is the most accurate weather report I've heard.

I wouldn't be able to live in a place that didn't have sun shine on a regular basis. Months of clouds would be too depressing.....
Florida is pretty cool, the storms come in the afternoon and clean everything up. But the rest of the day its mostly sunny. Too bad it gets so damn hot durning the summer.

Today our rain has turned to snow, but so far only sticking on the grass, its early! :)

Dec 16, 2002, 11:14 AM
All our snow is pretty much gone, all that's left is the dirty stuff piled at the corners of parking lots from the plows.
The worst rain is when it 33° and pouring - a very cold, biting rain that just isn't nice. We had some of that last week - something I could do with out.

There's nothing like the sound of rain beating on a tin roof of an old shed....
Course, where I live a tornado every once and awhile isn't all that uncommon. I've been "in" one and seen two others. Magnificent force of God...

Ha, I've been in one too. (almost)
The May 3rd one almost completely destroyed the town I lived in (except for the school, dammit) and it oblierated my uncle's house except for the room his son was taking shelter in along with his grandma.
That thing came within a mile of where I used to live, I was extremely lucky that I didn't get caught in it.
