msn messenger

msn messenger for the mac.

i cannot connect to the server at all since.

i can connect on my parents pc and at work on my pc there.

i have downloaded the latest and greatest version and still nothing.

anyone running into similar problems?

its a common problem on Mac OS, you can try the app called "Fire" or "Proteus" (try looking for them on versiontracker or macdownloads.com), they're similar to the windows chat app Trillian, which let you go onto an MSN acct, aim acct, icq acct, and yahoo acct all at the same time on one app

I have had this problem before. There is a simple fix. Trash your MSN preferences in your home directory + they re-boot msn. This will sort your problem out.

/users/(your directory)/library/preferences/microsoft

The find the file MSN Messenger Preferences. Delete this.

The pref is in the pref folder too, scrap them both just to be sure:

/users/(your directory)/library/preferences/microsoft/MSN Messenger Preferences

&

/users/(your directory)/library/preferences/MSN Messenger Preferences

According to my experience, the windoze one can bypass proxy servers while the mac version can't.

That solution worked. Hopefully I don't have to do this everytime I restart my computer.

It normally only happens when you update the version I think.
