now i would put apple on the list if they had shared their os and become the standard for the world instead of microsoft...who may have had the inferior product but a more practical business model...so microsoft should be on the list since it started in new mexico, a western state...or seattle, if you count bill and paul working as an unnamed software company before that attatched to traf-o-data, the traffic counting company turned software venture which led to the beginning of the dark side, and blah blah blah:p
