How dumb can you be? This is a new level of stupidity! I don't think Apple would want to be associated with a company who gives free advertising to its competitors.:rolleyes: :D

The advertising division of Dell probably uses Macs for almost everything. they just grabbed one of the computers that wasn't busy at the moment, shot the picture, and figured it didn't matter. Oh well.

No, I saw it here (http://www.macnn.com/news.php?id=17801), but they took the really big-'n-detailed pic down.

Yeah it was a PB. I can spot one from a mile away.

That's one of the biggest screw-ups I've seen any company make in a long time. How could Gateway mess that up? And They were getting so "Apple-esque" with their advertisements. :rolleyes: :eek:

It was supposed to be the Gateway 600 series notebook!!

They are severely stupid!!!

I wouldn't be so sure that Gateway is so "stupid" that they "accidentally" did this. They probably just realize that their laptops are ugly, unphotogenic pieces of crap, and they know they can get away with putting a PowerBook in their ad because probably only a Mac fan would recognize it anyway, and what the hell do they care about Mac fans?

This way, they make "their" computers look cool, and maybe get someone to go to their website or their retail store to look for cool Gateway laptops. Then the sucker gets to look at real Gateway products and ends up buying an ugly-ass Gateway laptop instead, since that cool laptop from the ad would just be a dim memory anyway...

Its probably just a stock photo out of some magazine one of the creatives mistakingly put in there. Idiots.

Ive seen the Windows on the Powerbook screw-up before. Hideous and stupid. SOOO stupid.

this is what happens when you put it in the hands of advertisers, marketers, and mbas...and not techies

there are many examples throughout the history of high tech which get these things wrong, on a technical level, all the time

my microsoft textbook, made for college but certified by the microsoft technical writers...what a bunch of dumbasses...i have dealt with them...quoted in my textbook that NT 4.0 was a flavor of UNIX

so goes the battle between the geeky techs and the suit and tie businessmen/marketeers

so i wouldn't say the "gateway" per se is "stupid"

but the ad is a real botchjob, anyway and kind of comical:p

Will Apple object to Gateway's unauthorized use of the PowerBook in this advertisement? It doesn't look like an accident to me - Gateway made it a point to open the PowerBook and plug in headphones. How could they not realize the error? Considering Gateway's recent attacks on Apple products, it sure looks like the PowerBook was used as bait to lure potential Gateway customers.
