I'm once again trying to sell my beloved 15" Powerbook. This Powerbook is in IMMACULATE, PERFECT CONDITION!! There is not one flaw on this machine. It has been babied since it's purchase! It is practically brand new. It has never left my house. It gets cleaned once a week with iKlear. There are NO DEAD PIXELS, NO SCRATCHES, NO BLEMISHES, IT IS PERFECT!! The Powerbook will come with everything that was included when it was purchased; discs, manuals, and the original box. I am very unsure what to ask for it so it will go by best offer! Feel free to ask me any questions, or make any reasonable offers. Powerbook will be shipped from Pennsylvania. For this transaction I will only accept money orders and or cashiers checks. No PayPal.
I also have a 30GB iPod Photo for sale! The iPod is also in PERFECT condition! The Plastic is still on the click wheel. Make offers!!

I'm surprised you haven't sold it yet, given how desirable PowerBooks are, especially the 15" models. I wish you the best of luck in your future transactions. :)

Someone buy this thing fast, I had one, and wish I still did.

I would be cool with $1300.00 only if you will do an escrow transaction. Thats a lot of money to be playing around with.

HELLO 2 U I PRINCE OF NIGERIA WANT TO BUY YOUR ITEM FOR BIRTHDAY GIFT. WILL OFFER $99,999 FOR ITEM. WILL PAY WESTERNUNION CRAIGSLIST WILL GUARANTEE SAFE TRANSACTION, DO IT.

^Mean like that? Not all escrow transactions are like that you know, escrow transactions are way better than paypal if they go right!

No, it is not like western union or craiglist. It is a company that accepts and holds my payment in "escrow" then authorizes the seller to ship the item, then once I receive/examine the product (assuming everything is as advertised) I authorize transfer of funds to seller. then funds are payed to seller from escrow company. People who buy houses use escrow accounts to assure buyer and seller can't screw with each other. Paypal is NOT a great idea. People can screw you using paypal. Escrow protects buyer and seller.

okay ic, i wasn't sure, and i agree, the buyer of my ipods on ebay is trying to screw me with paypal (demanding a refund because he says they are more scratched then he though) he says they are cracked and chipped, when they had minor scruffs, which iKlear can mostly solve.

Well, when people have buyer protection using PayPal, it's insanely secure, you can file a claim, and paypal will be the judge. I mean, what if you put the money in escrow, receive the item, and then claim that you never got it? with paypal, you could file a claim, what can you do with escrow?

Sorry for threadcrapping, I'm really curius about this.

BUMP for the LOVELY powerbook!

So, what happens if the buyer decides not to authorize the payment? ... and keeps the item? Sounds like it protects the buyer more than the seller, but maybe I'm just misunderstanding.

OK, let me put this in plain terms... I set up an escrow account...send the money to the escrow holder. The escrow company notifies the seller once they have the money. Seller ships the product via certified mail or return receipt, I sign for said item. I have 72 hours after receipt of the item to contact the escrow company to let them know if I am satisfied. If I am not satisfied, I send the item back to seller, once they receive the item I am refunded. If I am satisfied, I notify the escrow company to such and they release the money to the seller. An escrow account is required to collect the tracking info on the item so they "know" if I received it or not. It's part of the process(their website collects the info) If I never receive the item then they refund the monies to the buyer (me). I have purchased this way before and sold this way and I have been satisfied with the process both ways...
:D
PS. if I do not return the item to the seller then they release the money to the seller.

www.escrow.com is the safest web site to deal with. Made many transactions thru them without any problem (bought a PB Alu on this forum). Would you send $1500 to someone you don't know ? Very hasardous...... If the seller don't want to use escrow service don't buy from him.

BTW, PaRaGoNViCtiM, good luck with your PB sale :-)

Just as an FYI, Escrow fees are HEFTY. Like 20% or something outrageous like that. Personally I have heard Escrow horror stories, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions...

I paid $51.15 USD fees for a $1625 USD escrow transaction. So it's about 3% fees. Paypal is nearly the the same amount but without protection, without inspection of equipment before release of the payment.

I've had a very bad experience with Escrow, but then again, I had one with PayPal too. Everything on the internet is dangerous! That's why feedback helps. There are people on this forum who can vouch for me!

you always offer people that aren't in the UK, don't you ever think about Duty, customs, taxes and the fact that the shipping rate will be much higher, people don't get it if you buy something from the states to canada or vise versa, you will get charged, for instance i got charged 183.00$ on a ibook G4 with a broken hinge, customs will open it, look at the box and say oh a powerbook lets see, they go to like apple's sight and see how much they go for, then they decide the total charge they will charge you  its just easier if people from the same country/continent buy form each other. just some constructive criticism.

Well, I got impatient and decided to buy a refurb from Apples site today. Since my offer wasn't accepted or replied to. I wish you all the best of luck with your sale of the LOVELY Powerbook. I just couldn't bring myself to buying something at such a high price without going through an escrow account. It's not that I don't trust it's just that I have never been much for gambling...
Best of luck too you ParagonVictim

Much better to declare a plausible value than to leave it blank or check Gift. If the customs folks don't see a value, they are free to assess whatever value they want and charge accordionly.

So "non-functional computer parts" at $200 would have attracted about $36 in charges, but "iBook Gift" sounds like you got assessed at about $1200 value.
