I'm not buying a launch system. Heard and seen way too many horror stories, especially with PS2s.

I bought an Xbox a couple years ago when they went down to $199 and I got one of those BS systems that scratched my games.

Are these the preorders? Or the systems they put on the shelves on launch day?

If you didn't preorder, are you screwed? Or is the limited availability a bit of scam to work up more sales?

Nah. I found this last night. It details what each store is getting for therir initial launch quanity. Best Buy doesn't preorder, so you can guess from the numbers on whether you want to wait or not. See how many your store gets, swing by the store, and if there are more people that what the store gets, don't waste your time in line.

I don't work in for best buy, or in retail for that matter, but from what i've heard most stores will be doing a midnight release. Just call you local stores and ask, and if they say "um, i don't think so" ask to speak to someone else, like a manager who will actually know.

But that's a PS2, not an Xbox. My Launch Xbox is still going strong almost 4 years later.
