As some of you may know I'm leaving for London tomorrow afternoon. I'm quite excited about the trip so I decided to buy a nice digital camera to document the trip, as I've never been over seas. Today I went out to bestbuy and picked up a Canon G2 for $580, what I felt to be an exceptional price. I've been playing with it nonstop since I picked it up, taking pictures of everything.. all I can say is 'wow!' I've only owned 1MP digitals before and as this one is 4.0MP, it's completely stunning in comparison. The pictures are so vivid and realistic, simply an amazing camera.
If you're considering a digital cameras with all that cash you got for Christmas, I'd highly recommend it. Looking over some of the posts, I had considered purchasing a SONY DSC s-75 but was scared by reviews I saw questioning its durability. The Nikon Coolpix 4500 was a similar 4MP camera, but the twist-design frightened me, I could just see it snapping in half. In the end the price on the G2 attracted me, while similar cameras may cost slightly less, the quality made it a definate value. The Canon G3 seems to be an even better camera but at $800 - it didn't seem that much better. As I said, if you're considering a new digital, I love this thing so far, we'll see how well it works over the next week.
I'll be back next Friday and will host some images from the trip, until then everyone have a safe and happy new years! :)
