Up for sale is a nifty projector that I built out of a cardboard copier box and a few Fresnel lenses. It actually works pretty good, but I recently got a 57" Hitachi HDTV and no longer have a need for this. It works by taking a CRT and reflecting the light from it through some lenses and then an adjustable cardboard tube. I've attached some pictures, unfortunately the screen that I used this with met a untimely demise with a collision with a vacuum cleaner, so any shots of it in action that I had were really bad, but if you use it in a dark room on a sheet or screen it works well. I can include the CRT if you need it.

Please ask with any questions, I've dealt successfully with many people on these boards.

It cost me about $100 in parts, and a bunch of labor, so please make an offer accordingly. Trades welcome :D

That is the most ghetto, cool mod I've ever seen in my life!!! Is there any pics of it playing? What's the quality like? How do you control the keystoning and horizontal/vertical alignments?

It's made of two parts, an outer shell and an inner casing. You slide the inner casing to adjust the picture and you move the whole thing back and forth to adjust the size of the picture.

so do you just put a CRT monitor up to your modded carboard box and make a projector?

Pretty much. The secret is in the lenses :D

EDIT: I based it off of this:

and just mod'ded the idea for moving pictures.

I'll try and get some action shots tomorrow.

I'd be interested in seeing how big size projection you can get off this baby. Any clue?

Sweet! How's clarity? I might be interested in this depending on how much you want. Does your $100 include the monitor? It cost you $100 for card board and 2 fresnel lenses?

That includes a liberal amount of duct tape and the *super thick* box I had to buy, plus the lenses.

Here's a pic of the projector a friend of mine made with me:

Let me just say that I have a good friend who built his own projector and although it looks like he found it in a dumpster the picture it reproduces is pretty darn good and the size of it is shocking. He had it producing a picture up against a wall and it took up all of it. He calls the the "ghettojector", anyway point of the story if this interests you don't hesitate because of the fact its in such a box, it may turn out to be a really good picture!

Yeah I know, thanks to those people for stealing it from me . I actually got that picture from a local friend (I took it) and subsequently people have started using it for themselves. Stupid eBay.

Oh, and for those of you who asked about if the guy in the picture is naked, he's not. He's wearing a pair of kakis'. Stupid shadows!
