hi guys!
i've just bought an iMac widescreen (17 inch) and i've got a little problem: the fonts.
Well, the monitor isn't just much accurate when showing text.
It's quite hard to read it.....

Example: in iTunes the names of the songs are hard to read....

or in Mail I really cannot read the objects of the mail even if they're Lucida Grande 14!!

or (in IE, when selecting text) the selections are so unclear!

Where's the problem?
Is there somebody with an iMac LCD?
Is there a solution or the LCDs are just not very accurate?

Thank you very much.

- 1440 x 900
- millions of colors

if that can help you:
- font smoothing style: medium
- turn off smoothing: 8 or smaller.

Thanks.

I don't quite see what you mean. Could you take a screen cap of the problem? (apple key + shift + 3)

sorry for answering so late.

an example:
that's how i see text with word (arial narrow8, zoom 150%).

if you enlarge a bit you 'll see clearly a lot of spots red.... i checked on my iMac CRT and the text wasn't so "red-spotted".....

do you think that's normal?

am i too much pernickety?

thats IE. i would help you get Chimera but since i use ChimeraKnight i have forgotten where it is.

anyways, i dont have an imac screen but i can suggest this.

go and enarge the text your using. it is very small. on my sony 17" i still have trouble with text that small (1280x1024).

i doubt it is your screen. unless of cource it is a very very very bad screen and has a lot of locked pixels. but that is so unlikely i dont think it has been heard of.

also word is carbon. go download silk and see if that helps
