What do you iMac owners or other widescreen gamers use as your resolution for gaming?
I am having problems playing many games on my iMac as can be seen in this thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=163625 I was wondering if the resolution could have something to do with it as the games that are quitting are all graphically intensive

I've never heard of these problems before or have I experienced them before. For the games, what resolution are you running them at? Maybe you should try turning them down and see how they do then.

I use 1024 x 640 very often for my games. It's widescreen and it works for me.

Most games I play I use 1024 x 768 which gives the bars. I just ask this because Jammin Racer unexpectedly at that size but at 1680 x 1050 (native screen resolution) in windowed mode it didn't quit

It really sucks that a lot of games do not support widescreen resolutions. For Example KOTOR  It would be sooo much better on widescreen res.! Did u watch in-game cutscenes and movies? Lol they are 2.35:1, so large black bars on the top and on the buttom of the screen + bars at the sides (4:3 ratio)

UT2004, UT2003, UT, and UT-related games can be modified to work in widescreen mode by changing a text file, as I'm using 1280x768 for those.
I've not had any luck with other games though, even though some of them work with the PowerBook resolution of 1280x854. I will normally play at a (stretched and ugly) 1024x768.

I play games at the native resolution of my monitor so 1680x1050, it a game doesn't support it out of the box or by editing a file or 6 I wont buy it.

Yes this and 1152 x 720 are good resolutions to play at as long as there's some kind of FSAA.
