Hints at (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/11/20021118075620.shtml) a .Mac online Address Book appeared in November... and it appears that this feature will be available starting at MacWorld San Francisco. Apple's .Mac page describes the following feature:

.Mac Address Book with contact synchronization
Enjoy access to your key contact information anywhere. Your online .Mac Address Book will soon work with iSync so you can have all your key contact information, including addresses and phone numbers up to date. A great feature when you're on the road.

An image (http://www.mac.com/i/fpc/19/page1/member_screen_addressbook.gif) promoting this feature is stamped "Available Jan. 7".

Along with iApp upgrades, I think .Mac will also be upgraded quite a bit too. Hopefully it'll make my 50 bucks worth it!

Maybe we should have 1 MWSF thread going right now with updates on all of the news to keep from spreading everything over many threads. I can't keep up with so many threads popping up everywhere. Just a suggestion.

This seems so obvious that I am relieved, rather than excited. When I visited home for the holidays I posted all my contact info from my Address Book on my iDisk. I thought I was beating the system and that Macs rocked for giving me the ability to load vCards on any machine running X. Now I am thinking it was a real joke to have to go out of my way to do something like that in the first place.

Thank god for Apple. Always showing me the obvious features that I should have wanted from the beginning.

Interesting interface! It looks more like a standalone application than a web based solution. with it's brushed metal appearance.

Maybe I sound cheesy, but I am really happy that apple listens to people´s comments and feedback! I wrote to them a while back asking about a web-based address book and I am sure many others did and voila here it is! It is quite rare to see a company that really listens to its customers and which also has a great support service! At least in my experience. Congratulations Apple!

I did as well, lets see if they listen to my other suggestions like a built in coffee maker and beer cooler!!!!

Here's a link to a related thread, or rather simply some observations that were made about the picture, and what releasing this feature at MacWorld might mean.

A nice feature addition, if it's coming, but blindingly obvious, and woefully overdue. If this proves to be the high point of MWSF announcements, Uncle Steve better really crank up his RDF, or I'm definitely going to need my inflatable pillow for the keynote.

Ah so that's why the .mac site was done the other day.....
Sounds good to me, any added features to .mac are much appreciated.

Actually, I believe the version of iSync released a couple of days ago already has .Mac synchonization in it.

iSync does sync with .Mac, but only for computer-to-computer transfers, not for online viewing. This will allow you to get your contacts and information online, from any computer, not just a Mac running 10.2 or better.

The image below from Apple's website clearly shows .Mac synchronization. Also, the text descriping the released version of iSync states that it can sync with .Mac address books.
