It's a 2.5 mm hex key.
To remove the sides, you must remove the fan and mainboard and use a pair of pliers and squeeze in the tabs on the sides.

this is absolutely perfect! I was looking at a G3 B&W on ebay. Would you do $85 shipped for it?

...or just unscrew the sides and pull them off, that works too. :p
