[edit]
(This ad was just updated to include the addition of a silver Nintendo DS, the details and pricing for which can be found below in thread.)

Will ship most mid to small size items (as defined by the USPS) anywhere in the US. Those living in the Boston, MA area, or who want to drive into town may arrange an in person transaction.

Paypal, Credit card through paypa,l or money order/bank checks checks only

Greetings folks

PLEASE NO TRADE or TRADE+cash offers. I don't have time to answer them and will see to it that they get deleted Also, for the reasons evident below, incoming stuff would only occupy the space formerly taken up by the outgoing stuff.
.
I've been meaning to move some of this stuff out of my drawers and shelves and direct it towards other people's homes in order to make room for the next wave of gadgets and miscellaneous stuff (I'm currently ending the fifth gadget age of my life. The Sixth won't begin for almost another year.

I don't expect the majority of you to know what half of this stuff is. For example, some audio stuff is very well known to audiophiles, but not to to those used to mass market stuff.Since I don't have the time right now to give the full writeups that some of this stuff desrves, I'll just list the items along with their approximate ages and level of wear/condition. For the less well known brands, I'll provide links for info and/or reviews - anything that won't take too long to google. All items work full with no hidden glitches unless otherwise stated (I don't believe there are any).In the case of the Radeon 9800SE graphics card, I'll paste the link for the standalone add I placed in this forum earlier.

As of the time of this writing, no ebay ad has been put up, but that will change in 1-2 weeks if things stagnate...What say we begin?
Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have some good photos to insert.

See next post for items...

~ipod, 4G "color" (aka "photo"), 60GB, white with chrome backing ~4 months old (8 months left on manufacturer's warranty), original box, unused "earbuds", manual, and USB 2.0 cable terminated at one end with a dock connector and the other end can be plugged into the included AC adaptor, so you can charge from either a wall socket or your computer. Optional $20 firewire cable is necessary to use this ipod with older macs without USB 2.0 support, but it worked fine on my girlfriends 14" G3 iBook (tray loading combo drive)

Unit has had moderate use, but always in sedentary (inactive or just walking) - usually used when lying on the couch or sitting in the library, never while excercising or running to catch a bus. Should point out that it was only dropped once in the 5 months I've owned it, but it fell only about 3.5 feet down to a moderately cushioned rug. This iPod spent the first week or so out of the box residing in one of my shorts' pockets, and thereby acquired a moderate degree of scuff marking on the chrome BACK. The screen has a few superficial scratches which are only visible when looking directly at the screen up somewhat close when its backlight is on. However since NO "scratch remover" or "filler" solution has yet been applied, the color screen should respond well to such treatments and thus revert to a more pristine appearance. Otherwise the unit is in excellent condition and performs flawlessly. In fact, even during several 30 minutes walks an an urban area, I never once heard this unit skip. Having listened to them almost excl while listening to Apple long duration Apple lossless files or high bitrate mp3s, using my Shure E4C ($300) in-ear headphones, I would say the sound quality seemed to be the same as that of the recent ipod generations.

Price paid was $399. Asking $275 or best offer including insured shipping. I believe that Apple's current price for a video ipod with half half the capacity is $300, but personally i preferred having twice the capacity without video than only 30gb and TV the size of a couple thumbnail images.

However, even if you don't use the extra gigabytes for music, it's so convenient to have almost 60 gigs of computer storage in your pocket, for example, to hold up to 60gb of games or divx and other movie files and bring them to work to watch on your desktop computer during lunch.

Likewise Apple offers an 80GB video iPod for $400, but then the extra $160 you'd be spending could be used to buy over 160 songs from the itunes store! Besides, who wants to waste the extra dough for a first generation video player when ones with SED screens will be out in the next 1-2 years! $240 will get you 60 big ones, almost enough for even audiophiles who encode only at 320kb and Apple lossless.

Sorry for the hard selling tone above, I'll try to easy off in the other stuff.

M-Audio "Audiophile" 24bit/96khz PCI sound card with 1 midi in and 1 midi out. Compatible with G4/G5 Powermacs.

product info: http://m-audio.com/products/en_us/Audiophile2496-main.html

In original box with bundled software on several CDs, including drivers and "lite" versions of Reason 2.5 and Ableton. Optical digital input and outpit. 1 pair each of RCA input and output.

In addition to using the card with a Fatar SL900 full sized controller keyboard with software virtual instruments such as EastWest Boesendorfer (4 gigs of grand 24bit grand piano bliss), I often listened to music using itunes and the amazing $20 audio enhancement itunes plugin "Volume Logic", and connected the Audiophile sound card rca outputs to my stereo amplifier. Sounded fantastic!

$70 shipped, or best offer.

B&W DM 603 2 way Tower loudspeaker pair with additional active reflex
opening which functions (if i remember correctly) to neutralize undesired resonances and/or standing waves. Pair of speakers is about 7 years old (paid $900 new back when MSRP was $1000), but since I listened more to headphones than to speakers over the years, and had them in storage for 2-3 years while living with my ex, they look and sound much newer than their chronological age. These speakers are rated at 120W max, but B&W 600 series are known to be among the more sensitive speakers out there, so my 60 watt Bryston B60 integrated amp was more than enough to really get them rocking without distorion in a medium sized room.
Allthough these speakers can handle any kind of music, they don't have the very deep boomy bass that many are used to from a tower speaker. Instead the bass presentation is just a bit thin, yet tight detailed for its price range. The mid range is open and detailed, making these speakers a great choice for those prioritizing acoustic music instruments and voice, but also groups such as the Police and electronic music such as Aphex Twin sound very good too.

Allthough it' not absolutely necessary to do so, I bi-wire these speakers, connecting four wires to each speaker, and the banana plug connectors on the other end of my Kimber 8TV speaker cables conservatively terminationed and connect to almost amplifier. I might consider selling the 12-13' Kimber speaker wire pair separately for the right price. Original brass bridges are included to convert the speaker connection termini between the normal and biwire configurations.
Also a total of eight (4 for each speaker) screw-in small tapered hard metal spikes are included, which act as diodes to help acoustically isolate the speakers from the floor so as to prevent floor vibrations from the bass from resonating back to the speaker cabinet. Using them them is recommended but not absolutely necessary

Here's a link to stereophile's review of the third revision of these speakers.

http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/805bw/

If I can find a link to a review for the exact revision I'm selling, I'll insert it in this thread later, along with some photos.

The speakers I'm selling here look almost exactly like those shown in the photo (right down to the shape of the tweeter/woofer/bass reflux enclosures - btw- 3rd revision are also 2-way) I believe are the same size. The only obvious difference in appearance is the color - mine are 100% black when the protective panels are fitted, and when the covers are removed 2 beautiful yellow&black drivers are revealed + 1 black bass reflux hole.

Selling price:
Local (non ship) in person sale: $500 (blue book value).
Price shipped: TO BE DETERMINED based on location, but I'll consider absorbing SOME of the cost as an incentive.
_________________________________________________________
Ok that's all for now, but in the next few days I'll revist this thread to add half a dozen or so equally or more interesting items, some of which POSSIBLY include:

-A mint 1.5 firmware Sony PSP and/or silver unscathed Nintendo DS
-both handhelds include ebgames replacement guarantees (paid $25-30 extra for each of those) with well over 6 months left on each.

-possibly a pair of high end headphones (Such as Sennheiser 580 or Shure E4C) whose pads can be ordered new from the manufacturer and replaced.

-Fatar SL-990 Pro full-size controller midi keyboard with graduated key weighting (tonal range keys feel a little heavier as you go lower).
The MSRP of this product was $900 a few years back, but I'll sell it for MUCH less than HALF that. Good condition. Manual is downloadable from the Fatar website

-7 record audiophile boxed HEAVY 180G VINYL (records don't bend easily) set of Thelonius Monk, his "Complete Riverside Recordings", #195 or a 2500 pressing limited edition. Label: Analogue Productions, restored and remastered directly from original master tapes using all tube analag equipment. Original beautiful large box presents these 7 discs along with a gorgeous near-mint 16+ page glossy photo session book featuring the various guest artists who played in the various recordings (2 of which are live club recordings) in a beautiful large 4/7 records have never been played even once,, 2/7 played only twice, and 1/7 played only 0.5 times (1 side only). I waiting had planned to wait until after upgrading my turntable setup (currently a VPI w/ Benz Glider phono cartridge) to really savor this box set, but now I need the money and may sell my analog stuff as well. You won't see as much as a single 'ding' or scratch on any of the 7 discs - not even when inspecting itunder a bright light (i'll photograph a few sides of one's choosing) Preordered price was $250. Looking for offers.

-Have some rare and excellent condition records, such as 1st pressings of Beatles albums (incl. The White album and Rubber Soul, among others, the Velvet Underground, +rare near mint 1st edition Mobile Fidelity "Half-Speed Master" editions of "Please, Please Me" and "Dark Side of the Moon, + others). I would only sell any of these records in quantities of 2+ (except for the box set).

One last reminder: please keep in-thread posting to a minumum, using private mail ("PM me"), as there are many items and thread could become unmanageable very quickly.

I'll be back later with a few more items and some price clarifications.

Cheers

Ted

Sale item addendum #1

For the first-run, limited edition THELONIUS MONK 180G VINYL Boxed set (see previous post, near bottom, for description), I've decided to ask $200 including insured Fedex or UPS shipping. Given that one can get an unopened later pressing (higher serial #) for $250 not including shipping, my ask price for an opened #195 (out of the first 2500 boxed sets produced) that has been barely played (several LPs not played yet at all) seemed reasonable.

New items not listed in above posts:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fine wooden CHESS SET, with wooden box. Stunning, must see (PHOTOS TO BE POSTED SOON)

Full sized pieces, paid $180 new, bought a few years ago at "Games People Play" in Cambridge, MA near Harvard Square. Set has only been used on special occasions, and only at home. Excellent or better condition except for a very small crack in several pieces near its very base. These defects were present in the set when I first bought it, being claimed by the store to be the result of changes in room humidity and common to many wooden/handmade sets, and therefore not covered by warranty. Personally, the cracks don't bother me one bit, since one cannot see them when actually playing a game and not holding the piece right up to one's eyes.
Price new was $180. Asking $115+shipping (heavy item, shipping variable with location)

Chess board, full size (perfect with pieces above), black squares and off-white/light beige squares, low weight relative to its hardness and "premium" appearance. New price was $60, asking $45 including shipping.

COMPLETE SET (incl. pieces and board above) - $150 + free insured shipping to continental US. (little bit extra for express service)

PHOTOS COMING SOON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Chronos" digital CHESS CLOCK. Owned 2-3 months, used only 5-6 times (several hours each time). Perfect for tournament and speed chess, this clock is one of the most - if not THE most - popular and sought after chess clocks used by speed chess players who love its large display and responsive buttons, extreme sturdiness (metal exterior), and overall simplicity.

Includes original receipt which entitles one to receive BOTH the manufacturer's warranty AND years of warranty coverage from "LJ Peretti Tobacco", the famous tobacconist in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA.

Also, if you happen to live in the Boston/Cambridge area, they will let you BORROW one of their Chronos clocks while yours is being repaired, should that unlikely case arise.

Price new was $120, asking $90 including shipping. Original box (convenient for clock portability), manual, and batteries included (very long life)

Price may seem high for a "used item", but in chess circles EVERYONE wants one of these and will pay alot for even VERY used units. The only reason I'm bothering to list this item on Macrumors is in the hope that it will be more convenient and less time consuming than going to the local chess club.

"Duel Timer Champion" Cherry Finish. Another CHESS CLOCK, only smaller and more portable, not as popular as the chronos due to its smaller buttons and display, but favored by some chess players for its handmade appearance and brass faceplate that makes this clock an excellent aesthetic complement to the finer wooden chess sets.
Runs on AA batteries (included- long life) and includes instructions on the flipside of the battery compartment cover. Also comes with attractive small black drawstring carry back. Excellent condition, owned ~1 year.

New price was $125, asking $75 including insured 3-day UPS or FEDEX (smaller item than the Chronos clock listed above)

MadCatz 7" TFT LCD screen (widescreen aspect ratio displays Halo 2 perfectly) for use with gaming consoles or other devices that output composite or S-Video. Also has headphone jack and LOUD built-in stereo speakers. Perfect for bringing your xbox or other console to your relatives' houses on Thanksgiving or other occasions, so you can lock yourself in your room and play Halo 2, Resident Evil 4, or Gran Turismo 4, without having to use their TV sets. THIS 7" DISPLAY IS IN EXCELLENT+ CONDITION, EXCEPT THAT I DELIBERATELY PRIED OFF THE OUTER PLASTIC SCREEN PROTECTOR BECAUSE IT WAS ADDING GLARE AND WAS PREVENTING THE IMAGE FROM LOOKING ITS BEST. SO NOW THE IMAGE LOOKS MUCH BETTER, HAS MUCH LESS GLARE AND MORE CLARITY!!!

Includes clamping mounting assembly for PS2, Gamecube, and XBOX, and also includes one video cable that works with all three consoles (3 different connectors) and supports S-video!

NOTE TO HALO 2/FPS PLAYERS - Back before I owned a TV, I used this small screen almost exclusively to enjoy Halo 2 online for most of last summer. Visibility, including sniping, was decent - especially for a small screen and considering the price.

MSRP was $200, I paid $100 at ebgames. Sell for $45 + shipping (max $20)

product link for my unit (note: 7" LCD screen was discontinued by madcatz and replaced by a smaller 5" xbox 360 screen to be released in april, therefore I could not post a madcatz homepage link for the product I'm selling. ) In a few days I'll post a photo showing condition and what my unit looks like with the thick plastic scratch guard removed.

Actually supports my case if there's no 80gb ipod. So there.

In the future, please refrain from posting directly in this thread unless it is to request that I clarify a product feature or some other aspect thereof that might interest prospective customers and which I may have forgotten to include misstated.

Otherwise the thread may become too long too quickly and frustrate attempts to find things easily.

I'll do my best over the coming days to post product photos and as many relevant links as I have time to find.

Website says it will not work with G4 upgrade cards. Have you heard anything about this?

Also, how well did it work on the DTS/Dolby Digital passthrough?

I haven't heard anything about how it works with G4s, nor upgrade cards. I'd be surprised if it worked with no G4 upgrade card, but stranger things have happened.

As for your DTS/Dolby Digital question, I never used this card's digital i/o - only the analog ins and outs, and midi - so I can't comment on that functionality.
