Just would like to show off my new tv :D. Thanks to those of you who helped me choose the dvi->vga cable. Here is the end result. My Powermac on a 43inch screen running at 1280x768. Looks brilliant, crystal clear and bright (you can't tell in the picture). Once again :D :D :D

Congratulations, W-_-W that's a great setup. Is it a plasma HDTV? What are the 2 boxes under the TV? Was the cost around $12,000?

Yes HDTV, box on the right is the tuner that it came with, and on the right is my dvd player. I got the tv for about £4600 with 5 year warranty, stand and etc.

Glad it worked out

The manual for those displays were a little vague about that stuff - though it did say, plug and play compatible with the Mac.

That hookup section for computers was horrible in the one I looked at.

W-_-W, was it easy to set, compatability? Did the Mac & TV come with the needed items? Do you also use a keyboard & mouse? Do you happen to have a web site where additional information is available?

I put a thread a while back asking which cables I should get to hook them up. In the end I got a £19.50 Dvi to vga cable. It was just a matter of plugging the two in. I started up the mac and bingo the screen turned on and everything. All I had to do was change it from 800x600 to the higher res.

I used my wireless logitech mouse which you can see beside the tv.

Do you happen to use Eye TV or the like?

nice setup. one question, though.

Don't plasma screens get burn-ins if you leave an image on them that doesn't change?

Nah, but I can watch tv and use the computer at the same time. It can display two inputs at once.

I don't think so. I heard a few weeks ago that burn-ins stopped being a problem a few years ago. I read screens could take a hundred hours or so and be fine.

Does that have Satellite tv too? That's an incredible setup anyway.

It can, I have digital tv, but it's not satellite. You *just* see the DV3 decoder by Person X's leg.
