Cannot install iTunes 3 on Mac OS X

I downloaded iTunes 3 from Apple and tried to intall it. It gets to the install script at the beginning of the installation and then does not progress. Computer does not freeze and i can easily quit the installation. Is this a common problem or am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any insight you can offer!

Are you using Jaguar, 10.2??

I believe iTunes 3 only runs under Jaguar.

iTunes 3.0.1 (current version) requires Mac OS X 10.1.4 according to the Apple site. Make sure you're fully updated, and then try trashing your current iTunes or Installer prefs, or repairing permissions. Those seem to fix the majority of issues with software.
