I know there's a thread about this already but I wanted to be slightly more precise. I'm in a dilemma about the two hard drives. Looking at recent threads I am convinced to get the faster one but apparently if it's faster the battery life will be affected. So what do you think I should do? Also, another question, can anyone recommend a second-skin and a bag for the MacBook Pro? Thanks,

Most people seem to pick the faster drive. Perhaps on their current Mac, they didn't up the ram so they feel a faster hard drive will help.
My Powerbook has a 5400 rpm drive and my Powermac has the Serial ATA 7200 rpm drive. I only notice that my Powermac boots up faster but it really isn't by a lot (Both boot within 30 sec easily). I use iLife, Office, and a couple of shareware programs had I never felt my Powerbook was slow in hard drive performance. In Windows, I notice a huge difference between 5400 / 7200 but I think it is because it deals with tons of tiny files all over the place, I am not sure.
Because Red Hat is talking about allowing MacBook Pros run Linux side by side with OSX (I wanted to run Oracle 10g) and also that WINE and few other options could exist for running Windows, I think I am going to need more internal drive space more than speed. I am going to keep all my iPhoto, iTunes, and Movies off-line on an external drive as it is.

Same post as in the other thread...
Geez, doesn't anyone use the search function anymore? This is the 3rd or 4th thread on this topic.
If you can't find the search button maybe you shouldn't be operating a computer...

For laptop cases, if you're going to be carrying your laptop in a backpack or briefcase, I love the Marware SportFolio sleeve/skin.
