Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out. I am in my junior year of college and kinda need something with more power than my emac 1ghz. The machine is just too slow for my classes these days (engineering major) I would like to sell it but am unsure of what is a good price. It is a:

1ghz
512mbram
80 gig hd
superdrive
airport extreme

I would like to get a new imac or macbook but if they are too pricy (especially macbook)I may go with a pc since it tends to be a lot more compatible with many engineering programs. Thanks for any advice

i just bought a similar system yesterday, except 1.25ghz version
everything else the same.
i got it for $520 canadian, shipped.
$470 Canadian ($435) - shipping.
id say with the airport extreme you could get around $500 US

Dukebound85,

How is that machine too slow? I'm in 3rd year of an Engineering degree and still using an origanal eMac with 10.2.8? I'm assuming your not running something like Final Cut Pro?

BTW do you know any decent eng apps for the mac?

Cheers,

Soton.

Seeing as a brand new Mac mini that is almost half again faster costs $500, but you have AE and a good HD, I'd say yours was worth around 400.

Nah, its worth closer to $400 than $500. The mini at $499 is 1.25Ghz and although it has a better graphics card it doesn't have a screen, doesn't have a superdrive, has half as much hard drive space and doesn't have airport extreme.

Ok so yea I want to finally get rid of this thing for portablity as I will need it for this next year. With the new macbooks out how much would this set up still be worth. Is it still reasonable to ask 400-500 dollars US? Thanks for the suggestions
