ok folks, I post this as a feeler, because I dont know what price to ask.
So if your really interested...lets talk. If you have a opinion, here is where I weclome opinions or thoughts.

I have a xbox with a duo x2 chip, 80gb hard drive, samsung DVD drive (recently added when my other one died), 3 wired controllers, 1 wireless controller.

I am not all hip and in the know about everything xbox, so I will tell you what I do know. It has a issue: Recently when I had to replace the faulty dvd drive, I noticed that the chip that the original owner added was a bit lose. So I tried to make sure it was on there secure. Ever since then, the xbox tends to not work from time to time. But to get it to work, all I have to do is make sure the chip is positioned properly.
I see this being resolved a couple different ways, resolder or replace and resolder. Either way, very cheap and fixable for a 100% working system.
I dont have much time to pull it apart as well as I dont have the best steady hand. But if all I get is lowball offers, thats what I'll have to do.

There are no disks that come with the system...and, well thats all that can be said about that.

PM me if you have any questions about anything.
Mods: If this is not a appropiate post, please let me know what I can do to resolve it. Modding is not illegal, piracy is.

Not really looking for trades, as I need to put the money into something my daughter wants.
Thanks
Rob

So it HAS an 80GB drive in it?

What is on the drive? XBMC etc?

The fact the modchip is loose may be a larger problem just waiting to happen. But sight unseen, I cant say.

What did you want to get for this is a fair question?

Like the people who set a reserve price in eBay, pretty much demand a lowest price taken. What is yours?

The 80gb drive has alot of different things on it. Not 100% sure on all the lingo of xbox, but I know stuff was installed via slayers tools.

The Duo x2 chip has two pieces to it. One piece it the solders on the motherboard this peice being what I call a socket. The other peice of it actually sits in this socket. This is where the loose part comes in. The chip does not fit snuggly into its socket, and sometimes it moves. For me to get the xbox running again, I just simply reseat it. So with that being said, I dont think there is any other problem to it. Either it works or it doesnt, and if doesnt, I know what I have to do to make it work. I also thought I read somewhere that with this chip, you can bypass the socket and just solder the chip on the motherboard.

I dont know exactly what to ask.... I have been searching for a good answer for that. I have seen full working moded xboxes sell in the past, but I am not sure about one that needs a little TLC.
I guess I am hoping to get near $200 out of it.

An 80GB slightly (cough cough) modded XBOX for $200 is way too much.

#1 - you have no idea whats on the HD. If there were games, music, videos on it, you may get people interested (though its illegal of course, cough cough)

#2 - its only 80GB, which is cool if you only backup your games and dont use the HD for no load times etc.

#3 - I know people think a modded XBOX is da-bomb, which they are. but asking $200+ for a lackluster modded box is kinda silly.

#4 - You can mode your own XBOX, or buy one for $120 used, and an 80GB HD and a Modchip for $200 or so. and yours is slightly busted.

IMO I feel it is worth $150 maximum, but then again it is worth WHATEVER people are willing to pay for it.

eBay it.

I would suggest soldering the chip yourself, that eliminates one question immediately from the minds of your potential buyers.

If you've never soldered before, it's not that hard. I had never soldered anything before, but a few online tutorials (what to do, what not to do) later and I had modded my own XBox. It took me literally 1 hour, zero soldering experience, and it was up and running perfectly.

Definetly if the chip is soldered on and your sure the Xbox is in working order you can get a lot more money for it. Good luck ;)

*UPDATE*
Thanks everyone for your opinions and comments.
With that being said, I took some advice and tried to fix it.
I learned that when you buy the DUO X2 chip, it comes in two parts.
A pin header and the chip.
I took everything apart and found that the soldering on the chip did not look right. Well, I attempted to see if I can make it look better. And when I did, put it back together, it powers up, but gives the same error. And the LED light on the chip doesnt blink. So I know I screwed something up on the solder job.

With that being said... I want to sell it as is.
I can almost guarantee that the worse case scenario is a new chip for $20.
But I bet I messed up the soldering and pin connection on the chip.

It has the samsung drive..
80GB hard drive with goodies (PM for more info)
3 wired controllers
1 wireless
power cable, tv cable
DVD remote thingy

And I think thats it.
Given what the parts are worth on eBay. I am going to say this is for sale for $125 plus shipping.

eBay would sound like a good deal but, your asking price is a bit high, I know it has the chip in there and everything and the HD is a good size but, the headaches will dealing with these sort of things (especially bad chips or motherboards) are hardly worth it. Good luck and all though, I hope you manage to sell it for a good amount. :) :D

Broken modded xbox with no samsung drive went for $100 :D

Chip is easy to find.... they are all over the place for $100.

But if no takers soon, I have $100 already spoken for just for samsung dvd drive and 80 GB with all goodies on it.

Thanks for your opinions
