Well this is sort of a feeler I would like to know what people would be willing to pay and I will go from there. I should say that this iBook has spent most of its life doing homework and world of warcraft its in pretty good shape other then 2 cracks around the screen.

Well LCDs for G4 iBooks arn't exactly cheap, plus the labor of having to take the thing apart to replace it, so I'm not totally sure...

Edit: I was looking around:
Here's the whole display assembly:
http://www.ifixit.com/cart/customer/product.php?productid=1163&cat=&page=1 ($399.95)

or just the LCD part:

14" iBook G3 LCD w/bezel & case

This poster is selling a 12" iBook - the 14" LCD will not work in a 12" iBook or any 12" Apple Laptop.

If I got a price on it I may be able to make a deal with you. What are you looking for? I'm pretty sure I can probably fit my iBook G3 LCD display on this, by detaching all the cables and replacing just the panel. Lemme know.

Well as much as I would love to sell it I think that there was a cable leanth difference between the G4s and G3s although I believe they used the same screen. Still not 100% sure

Haha, in the first photo on that eBay auction, there's an adapter that doesn't work or come with the iBook...

DVI to VGA

Yeah, I'm also interested, but a ballpark of what your looking to get would help us.

I just paid to have a broken 14" LCD replaced. Total was $400 parts and labor with a couple days turnaround.

I think a fair offer for this broken iBook would be "market price" less $400 less about 25%.

Apple is currently selling refurbish 14" iBooks for just under $1k take $400 and $25% off that and you get $450.

One other idea is to buy a monitor and keynoard and call the broken iBook a "Mac Mini" and keep using it. Mini's are OK and you can't buy a Mini for the $450 you get.

This is not a 14" ibook.

You can get a screen for around 200 on ebay if you install it yourself. I am looking for around $500ish

Considering "new" refurbished iBooks with much better specs than yours and a full year of warranty go for just over $700 on Apple's site, I think you may be being optomistic.

Yeah maybe but 425 on ebay for one much worse... I am open to offers though.

Thing go for weird prices on ebay...on here or locally, I would say around $400 seems reasonable.

Because it's 14" instead of 12". How would it fit? I guess you could replace the whole bezel too and have one really weird looking iBook. :p

Size.

Is

Different.

a fourteen inch screen is not a 12 inch screen. How the heck would that fit on a 12" body?

Yes, thank you for pointing that out but its cheap and it might work on a technical level.

On what level would a tractor-trailer truck fit into a compact parking space in a garage with a 6 foot maximum clearance?

Similarly, on what level would a 14 inch screen fit on a 12 inch computer?

Just checking.

I am completely confused by hhlee's "it's cheap and may work on a technical level", too.

Nothing is THAT cheap.

But if it is that cheap, sell the 14 inch screen, I actually heard that they are harder to get for replacement parts than the 12" screens...

?

Yeah, 14" screens are definitely worth more than the 12"s.

I dont need it anymore anyway, my iBook is fixed and working perfectly. :D

The repair was covered under the logic board replacement program.
