Yet another dumb iMac question.

The LCD imac has 3 usb ports controlled by 2 separate root hubs... one root hub connects to 2 ports and the other connects to one and the internal 56k modem..... etc etc.

Which one of the 3 ports is shared with the modem? (or, rephrased: which ports corespond to which root hubs?....... does that make sense?)

I have a usb device that I dont want on the same root hub as another and I don't know which ports are on separate controllers.

I appreciate your help sorting this out!

Try opening up Apple System Profiler and going to the "Devices and Volumes" tab.

If you can't find out that way, I think the one closest to the modem is on the same one as the modem.

PS. Why don't you want them on the same bus?
