Hey all I just got my new iBook G4 and was wandering how much I can get for my old iBook. Here are the specs

12” screen
500mhz
Airport
BT (D-Link)
640MB Ram
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
60GB Drive
10.4.5 Tiger
Brand New 65w Charger
Little scratches nothing that bad and the screen has no dead pixels. Also I don’t have the original box but I do have another iBook box I can give you with all the cd’s and paperwork

Wow, that's a nice system! You could probably get upwards of $300 for that.

Also, are you accepting trades? I've got dibbs for now if you are!

Aren't all 500mhz iBooks white?

Edit: heh, should have quoted the message I was replying to... Skoker asked what color it was, and edited it. Just so I don't seem completely mad. :P

What's the battery condition and could I see some pictures? I'd pay $300 right now for that. I really need something small that I can take to classes and this could be a great first-time-mac laptop.

Battery last about 2.5hr. Coconut battery saids its 97% capacity left. Pictures well no different then another iBook that has been well taking care of. Only normal scratches on the top where the apple log is and bottom of the unit. which any pictures would not show. Right now I just ordered a new keyboard for it b/c I swapped out keyboards on my iBooks and the new iBook keyboard does not fit the G3 but the G3 fits the G4

What do you have in mind? I'm not really looking for anything in particular

I think you're getting low-balled here a little bit ... I would use a different strategy. I would take out the airport card and sell them seperately. The airport card alone is worth $110-$135 on eBay and the machine even without the card could probably fetch between $250 and $350, but with the card they get around $400. I would do a little ebay research before you decide on the final value.

That sounds pretty accurate to me. I just did a lot of looking at older laptops, and $400 + shipping costs seems pretty fair for your system, with the Airport, maxed RAM, and especially with Tiger discs.

If I had any money right this moment, I'd pay that for this computer.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice it had Airport, I'm willing to trade without it if that's what you want to do.

Nah you really don't have anything that interest me. I would like to keep it together. I still haven't decide what I'm going to do with this yet

one other question, why does it have the 65W charger ... I mean I've only seen those with G4's and I don't know if that helps or hurts it but it kind of struck me as odd.

I'm guessing he had to buy a new adapter since the tip on these suckers breaks rather easily. I think Apple only makes the 65w ones now.

I really don't like the 65w one b/c of the charging light it produces. So that is why I will include it with the old iBook. I'm keeping the old one for my new iBook

I apologize in advance to Reflow for this...

I really don't mean to hijack your thread or anything, but I can't tell if you are still interested in selling your iBook. If not (and if anyone here is still looking for one), I have a different iBook up for sale now that maybe one of the people who was interested in yours might be interested in (that is, if you have decided not to sell yours). You can find my thread here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=185609).

If anyone thinks I am not playing nice by posting here, I have no problem with a mod deleting my post right away. I just couldn't tell what was going on with this particular iBook, and was hoping to appeal to a similar market.

And Reflow, if you post back and say that your iBook is definitely up for sale, I can delete this as soon as you give the word.

Doesn't switching them out like that cause issues? I didn't think you could do that.

baby duck monger,

That all right with me seeing that my iBook has gotten a lot of responses. Good luck on your sale then. If I had the $ I would buy it from ya since I just bought a 1.33ghz iBook. Now I'm broke

I never had a problem with it. Just it takes longer to charge with the 45w one compared to the 65w charger

I appreciate it, man. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on anybody's toes here. I would not want to steal a potential sale from you since you got here first :)
