I will be going to the hospital in 30 minutes indefinately. All sales are cancelled, sorry if you don't get your stuff. I don't even know why I had to go on MR to say this, oh well.

Can we get some confirmation that items were shipped? I know many have been waiting longer, but I paid for an item over a week ago, immediately after talking with you about it. Shipped out a 5300c... not sure who that went to as well as a 3400c.
Moving back to my house tommorow *cross fingers* so after that I should be getting whatever else out.
My dad has been quite stubborn in terms of actually shipping things for me. I missed the deadline to get an 18" monitor of mine RMA'd since he wouldn't ship it.
I'll get a reciept of everything shipped tommorow or get a delivery confirmation sheet for each person.

Yes, a referral system is definitely necessary. I posted a thread a while back regarding a sale with him (no responses or contact from seller after making payment), and I eventually received a badly scratched 10.4 disk from another person a month later!
In regards to you getting gipped, I'd contact him ASAP before disputing anything with Paypal. (assuming you paid with PP) They're a headache. Hopefully, he'll contact you and refund or correct the situation.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

I agree, but my experience with paypal refunding my money (the only two times I needed to do it) have been great. Just a thought.
As far as the cards go. I'm sorry but that is ****ed up if you ask me. Then again, cavet empor. I hadn't ever thought about it before, but if I ever buy a gift card from someone online I'd like to see a printout like the buyer showed us so that we can see just how much is on the card.

No, I think the seller has more than had his chance to make things right. I think that actions should be taken against him for defrauding members of our community.
How so? The seller shipped the item. There was an error, the card didn't have the value stated in the sale.
What should happen: The buyer contacts the seller and settles with them -- likely settlement would be the seller refunds $17 to make it proportionate to the amount received on the card.
But the card arrived today only. IF (and I said IF) the buyer posted a complaint here BEFORE attempting to contact the seller to settle the error, then it is out of line to post in public.
If the seller tells the buyer to take a flying leap, or fails to reply to reasonable attempts to contact, then there may be a concern.
Dr Q; can you outline the site policy on buyers *and bystanders* calling sellers frauds?

Well put.
It is always good policy to check with the seller first and attempt a resolution that is agreeable to both parties.
Going public before doing this is not a good idea.
Doctor Q
Apr 15, 2006, 01:15 AM
Dr Q; can you outline the site policy on buyers *and bystanders* calling sellers frauds?Generally, problems or potential problems should be handled privately, between members who are involved in transactions or members who are giving advice to each other (as long neither parties feels they are getting unwanted messages). When that's not good enough, the next step is to contact the moderators.
Because we don't have a formal system for handling feedback, ratings, and disputes, we take each case as it comes up and try to get the parties to communicate, state their situation, and say what they want. It's not a perfect system, since nobody minds positive feedback but negative feedback is usually disputed and rarely possible to confirm or refute.
The sales by im_to_hyper have been taking longer to resolve than the parties would like, but as long as communication continues and progress is being made, CanadaRAM's advice is correct: contact the other party first. If you are involved in a transaction with im_to_hyper and want to post, then report the status of your deal and say what you want. If you are not involved in a transaction, you should not post here.
We've allowed more public discussion in this thread than usual because the situation is unusual and still not resolved. None of us has infinite patience and we hope to see these transactions resolved in short order.

The reason I posted was because a) if this is to act like a referral, he's getting negative feedback and b) I had to end up posting here before because he doesn't check his PM although he's on quite often.
I'll try to settle things privately, but this dude has been too shady and sounds like other transactions aren't smooth either.

I finally got my laptop today. But I can't use it or tell you if it works, since I only got half of the power adapter (I have the brick, but the cable that goes from the brick to the wall is missing).
Hey man, sorry about that. That is a simple mistake that could have been PMd. It is a standard power cord that goes from anything to a wall. In my haste to ship it probably got set aside. It is a standard power adapter.
I found it downstairs.
To the 10.4 complainer: that situation had been explained and taken care of. Until now, I've never been aware that your disk from the other guy was scratched. The him ship directly to you situation had already been agreed upon, to save shipping. Bring up issues with that guy.
Your Best Buy card -- I got it as an Xmas gift from my grandma -- note says: Merry Christmas! Amount: $40.
I sold it at a loss to myself trying to be generous to you for $34. Remember, you were the one who said to me "Why the heck would I pay $40 for a $40 card?" Then I was in the hospital, etc, sob story, whine. I never managed to write the card number down since I had no idea that you could check that anywhere. That card says: specifically for use at a Best Buy store, not for online sales. You sure we talking about the card? The same holiday, sparkly one?
If that is the case, $17 is yours.
Hey, if I wanted to rip people off, I wouldn't be at this site, I wouldn't be trying to rectify the situations, I wouldn't even be shipping anything out to anyone or trying to make the situation better if the wrong thing was delivered.

Yeah, I took a closer look at the plug in the brick, and realized this looks familiar... Ah yes, the standard PC PSU power plug. So I stole one from the roommate's PC. I'll be going out to get a cable of my own soon. Don't worry about it.
HOWEVER, now that I got it turned on... it wouldn't boot. I got a frowning Mac with a code under it,
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 F
0 0 0 0 0 0 6 9
Any idea of what this might be? Oh, and this isn't a big deal, but I'm wondering if you have the back flap? It seems to be missing. If it's broken, don't worry about it. If you find it, just ship it in a 37 cent envelope :D

"I sold it at a loss"? You got the card for a gift. You didn't pay a dime for it. You sold it for some cash which is your profit. You could sell it to me for a penny, and you'd still be making a profit. And I never said "Why the heck would I pay $40 for a $40 card?" Someone else might have in the thread (not that I see any posts leading to that and none of the PM's we exchanged say anything like that) because I remember clearly that I wanted the gift card at $34 so that I could buy whatever I was thinking of buying at Best Buy for a discount at the time. If you want to read the whole card's policy, I can take a photo of it so you can read it yourself. But for some important lines on the back of the card, it does say, "Check Gift Card balance at any U.S. Best Buy retail location, online at BestBuy.com or call 1-888-716-7994." Not mention it clearly states: "Redeemable in any U.S. Best Buy retail location or online at BestBuy.com for merchandise or services only" as the first line. It's got the holiday sparkly design on the front, but somehow the policies are different from the card you're talking about. Odd...
Look, the point is I paid for something and didn't get what was advertised. Then somehow you go on to somehow paint an innocent picture? Not cool, man.
But, let's forget Business 101 and forget who said what and the small print on gift cards. Just send me your pitiful compensation so I can forget about this whole thing and move on and you can "rectify" the situation. This was a transaction from hell. Buyer beware.

(BTW: in case you were wondering, the part about whine whine, wah wah, etc was about my issues and my whining had nothing to do with anyone buying stuff -- if that is the cause of your rant. Notice the nice happy post above you, and I am working with the laptop guy to figure something out on how to get it to work.)

Buddy, we are discussing this privately, why did you post this here? Why did you post my e-mail address here publicy as well? Get rid of that.
Everything is being taken care of privately. I read your PM before I even read this post.

I, for one, appreciate it being public knownledge that you are not shipping what you sell

im_to_hyper is shipping what he is selling, he obviously went through a rough patch but is a very kind person who is trying to make best on all of his deals. I think that we should all try to respect that he had problems that he took care of, and that he is trying to make everyone happy. I also think that if he wants his e-mail and the correspondence to be private, then it should be private.

Right. Do you also appreciate that I am working to try to make everyone happy from this "batch" of shipments? If I am scamming people and not shipping what I sell, would I be on this board still? Wouldn't I have dissapeared into nothing and not worried about a simple $60 laptop?
Since his post was made and I responded to his PM, I have gotten no reply. Should I start to worry? No.
We will worry about any issues in private. Does Best Buy post a public announcement when they deliver a 40inch plasma TV with dead pixels instead of a great, working 60 inch plasma that was ordered? No, they work it out privately.
Rough patch = over. Those sales = part of rough patch. Everything now = back to normal. Dealings with those should be carried out in private.
ALSO: Thanks to the mod that edited out my email address from that earlier post.
