793-1 Record on Mario Kart DS Online?!?!

Ok so how does this happen?
Needless to say the guy kicked my Ass, but this isn't right. I met a guy online that had a record of 830-0, and I beat him twice in the race, although he won the match. What gives with these records.

What's your record?
Mine is 158-49 (or something like that)
