So here I am.... I've searched the forums but no real answer that really works. I've got a mpeg with video and audio..... I seperated them using BBDemux but my next problem is converting this m1a file into an aif or even a mp3

Suggestions? Hope so.....

Use iTunes, if you have it.

All you have to do is double click the .m1a file and iTunes should open it up. Change the encoding options in iTunes to "aiff". Select the file and encode it.

That's the basic way that I do it.

Rogue Amoeba (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/)

Get Audio Hijack. One of the sweetest apps ever made for the Mac.

Creates an AIFF from the audio output via the system's CoreAudio. Allows you to lift any sound that comes out of your computer speakers.

I've tried this method and it doesn't work. I get:

Warning! An "unknown (-2003)"error occurred while converting the file"XXXXX.m1a".

OK, then the problem is with bbDemux. Try "More MissingTools" to demux the audio from the video. I tried looking for it on the web, but I couldn't find it. You may have better luck.

Seeing the Terminal is correct. That's normal. But the program does do the job.

You should see some files called "chunk.m1v" and "chunk.mp2". The mp2 file is the one you should convert to aiff.

I had trouble with it for the first couple tries because the file had parenthases "()" in it which demux didn't like. But yes

IT WORKS!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!
