I am interested in getting a Lacie D2 DVD burner if the price is right for by iBook as I don't plan on upgrading for awhile.

(these are compatible with iDVD 06' right? Can anyone confirm?)

Yes they work just fine with iLife '05 and '06 as LaCie has their own drivers so you don't need to use Patchburn. I have the Porsche version and have been very happy with it :D

I have that same Lacie D2 burner without the lightscribe (beause it brings the dvd burning speed down to 8X) PM me with a price you are looking to spend.

suggestion;

build your own. buy a Firewire/USB 2 enclosure. buy an internal DVD±RW with the specs you want. save a lot of $$$.
