I just purchased a 17" iMac Intel Duo for my kids on Amazon. It came to $1155 after the mail in rebate and the A9 rebate. So I think that $1000 - $1200 is high. Maybe $800?

I would agree this would be a more realistic point since you can purchase the new machines at great prices. Tell your brother to keep that thing:D I still think that was the best iMac they ever made. I still love the floating screen .

Those are nice machines, but unless you chance on a person who's obsessed with the G4 form factor, I'd take into account that an iMac G5 / 17" rev. B with more RAM and a superdrive will probably go for about $900.
I also did a quick eBay completed transactions search... several similar computers went for between $650 and $750 in the recent past. So I would guess mid to high $600s private sale, and a little more on eBay.
It *is* a nice computer, though. Best of luck!

I've got an iMac G4 1.25 GHz - 20" Monitor - 2 GB Ram - 200 GB HDD - and I'm just getting ready to upgrade the 4x Superdrive to a 16x. I recently purchased a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.7, which I love to death, but I don't think I could ever part with my "iLamp". I just love its style.

Truer words have never been spoken... :p ;) For the OP, I'd hold onto the compy. Those were the sexiest iMacs. I'm *still* trying to get ahold of one... Good luck!
