Just wanted to let all you PM users know there is now a firmware update to address fan issues of mirror-doored G4's:

"Power Mac G4 Firmware Update 4.4.8 improves fan control behavior and
reduces high speed fan cycling when running in Mac OS 9."

it only helps when running in OS9. Which I never do. So, my shizzle is always loud. But she's fast, so I dont mind too much :D

accelerate your mac has some good posts and ideas for fan noise reduction for those who are using those wind tunnels! Just thought i'd mention.

That firmware was listed on the Apple Developer Connection e-mail dated January 31st, 2003 under Hardware as the following:

Are you sure it's not a different firmware update, I can't believe that the developer connection would only be finding out about it now!! As I said originally though, I'm a PB user so I'm not familiar with all the PM updates.

Well, thats when I downloaded it. I even checked to see if there was a new one....but there wasn't. Only things there for me are the Airport update (no airport) and iMovie (Final Cut).

So, thats all I know.
