because they do not have the VMX bit enabled... Is this true? If so, is there a way for apple to fix that for virtualization?

Virtualization is not the same say VirtualPC....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtualization
"Operating System-level Virtualization is virtualizing a physical server at the operating system level, enabling multiple isolated and secure virtualized servers on a single physical server."

Current cores don't support virtualisation.

which means if virtualization is a feature in the next osx version, you would have to buy a newer intel computer!!! The new cores would be worthless for that feature:(

According to Wikipedia the Core Duo DOES support virtualization:

"Contrary to earlier reports, the Intel Core Duo supports Intel's Vanderpool virtualization technology, as indicated by the Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology Performance Brief."

The chips do support virtualisation, it is just at the moment disabled in the EFI. A firmware/software update will turn it on.:D
