Hiya there used to be a old OS 7/8/ or 9 game i played all the time at my friends house. it was star trek something, it was the next generation and you had the enterprise and got to fly about a shot spaceships form what i remember, i was even able to turn on a borg cube to have a go at that. any one know the name of this game and how i could get it and get it working on os x intel.

I think you're thinking of Rescue. Absolute classic, though think development stopped at version 2.0.6.

Though someone is developing a Java version at

That looks just like it but it was the enterprise D in the one i played it looks so like it it was so so so fun.

Definately Rescue. Sadly missed, hopefully this Rescue Max thing will live up to it, pretty unplayable at the moment.
