Sims 2 Crashing

My Sims 2 game is not running on my eMac; ever since I wiped it one time, it's gone like this, even after 2 complete redos on the machine.

When I run it, the EA clip runs, followed by what should be the Maxis logo (instead a red X) in the top right corner. The Sims 2 opener runs, and then it crashes with an "unknown error."

Has anyone else run into this problem, and/or knows a fix?

Have you downloaded and installed the patch? (http://www.aspyr.com/detail.php?p_support_article_id=1214&p_game_id=156) I don't know if that will help any, but it's worth a try.
