First cocaine and now cult membership?? Man, whatever happened to the young woman who just stuck to belting out love songs with her gospel-music-like voice?

For those people that bet....I'd say she's a goodish bet on being dead before the end of the year.

We can only hope.

And hope that if she does kick the bucket she takes her hubby with her....

And Michael Jackson. The world would truly be a better place.

I know that I don't know Whitney personally or anything like that, but I still feel sorry for her all the same. She had such a promising career and then it just slowly fell apart. As my wife is fond of saying, "If only Whitney had hooked up with Denzel Washington instead of Bobby Brown, how different her life would be now." ;)

It is sad how we can all self-destruct at one time in our life. I hope she gets better, and gets out of all the junk she has been in. I am glad that there is redemption for people who want to fix their broken life.

Or Crack... Coke Heads usually keep thier teeth around for a while... Crackheads lose them in a matter of a couple years... Whitney is sporting a full set of dentures...

Without casting any despairing remark, I think this is one of the great, modern day tragedies. She could sing like a bird. Didn't she almost have it all?

What's with people wishing her death? I never understood that. Is it so annoying for you to know Whitney Houston's life is crap compared to what it once was? It's so annoying that you want her to die? Hey, here's an idea. There are plenty of crack addicts sleeping on streets in every major city in our country. How about forming little groups to go around and beat them all to death with baseball bats? Would that really make you folks happy?

There are not millions of such people in my country! Anyway, she had the power to help millions of smackheads with one wave of her wand and she never did. So why should people not have a laugh at her expense? I for one look forward to the days when messed up celebrities make an arse of themselves and end up splashed all over the papers.

Do people really think she will die? Do we want Michael Jackson to really die? Sure they have some things mixed up, but in their prime they shaped and changed pop culture around the world.

I don't know, seems like a little rehabilitation before DEATH might be better...;)

She could sing like a bird.
One of the clearest and best voices of recent times.

Didn't she almost have it all?

Yes and seemingly put everything at risk all at once.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making fun of people. I make callous fun of poor people, old people, anyone vulnerable really, so it's not that. People seemed to actually wish her death earnestly.

Do I really want Whitney Houston to die? No. Do I think that the rest of us here really want that as well?? No.

I agree that rehab would be a much better route so long as they are serious about it (forcing rehab often does little good). I think the point trying to be made here is that if these people were to somehow just go away--even if it is just fading out of the public eye--then we wouldn't really feel any loss at this point. If these people insist on continuing down their self-destructive paths it is hard to feel sympathy for them when thinking about all the lives they have hurt and affected in the process of such destruction. Deep down I feel really sorry for her because at one point she had such potential, but by her own choices she ruined her life--and that's sad. My more superficial feelings are more of apathy and annoyance because she had such potential to do good things and make a difference and she ruined it. She had such opportunities and such good gifts and talent (even if her songs weren't all my cup of tea), and it's a hard thing to swallow to see someone decide to throw that all away.

Likewise could be said for all the other stars who have the means to really make a difference and, instead, decide to squander everything on themselves and/or their destructive habits because they think they aren't affecting anyone else or because they think they are better than everyone else.

Lastly, likewise could be said for all the regular people who decide to squander their lives because they don't think they will hurt anybody but themselves. I was just talking to a friend of mine yesterday who is having to deal with a drug-dealing drug-addict/alcoholic brother-in-law who is in the hospital right now with liver failure and extremely low blood pressure. This brother-in-law has the attitude that none of his actions would hurt anyone else but him, but if he would just look around he would see how much stress and heartache he has put on his brothers, sisters and in-laws and he would see how messed up the lives of his own children are through the influence of his actions. It bothers me when people don't own up to their actions and instead decide to think that they are independent of this world, of their environment, and of their families rather than realize that we are all networked together. We need to take more ownership of our actions and better notice of how they really do affect others--be it directly or indirectly. We also need to stop blaming others or our environment as the cause of our own actions. While they may influence our actions ultimately it is our decision how we act. If we took more ownership I think there would be less people going down these self-destructive paths and the greater potential would be reached and the greater good would be done.

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Wishing people were dead? That's a little bit too much.
