I'm not real big into games, but since I'm getting a MacBook Pro, I think I'm going to get a PC game. What's the best game I could get?

ps: I know they make some games for Macs, but I've never been sold on any of the titles out.

Well.. it depends on your taste.
I don't think anyone can really answer your question until you post which kind of games you like...

(RPG, RTS, Sim, Combat Sim, Action, etc...)

Umm...I liked Halo and Halo 2. Goldeneye, Zelda, Supermario. I really haven't played any games since I had N64 with the exception of Halo. I also like RCT3...I have that for Mac.

I'm not sure what those categories you mentioned means. (i.e. RPG)

Halo 2 and Halo is first person shooting game.
I'd suggest Half Life 2, Battle Field 2 (if you are in for online play), Far Cry, Fear. I actually played the Half-Life 2 for a bit.. really liked.

Zelda.. well I guess I can treat that as action RPG or RPG in general.
I heard that Oblivion is the killer for this genre right now..
and if you like online play, I'd suggest the World of Warcraft... (altho it's platform free software)

RCT3 is building sim.. I don't really know about that genre.

Also if you like turn based strategy game,
I'd suggest the Civilization 4.

And if you want to try real time strategy game... (aka RTS)
I'd suggest Age of Empire 3, Act of War, or Star Wars Empire at War.

i just bought command and conquer the first decade.

it contains 12 command and conquer games including red alert 2 plus expansion, tiberian sun and expansion, and generals, and zero hour, including other classics.

Half-Life/2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 are great FPS games. Other than that, I don't know what to recommend to you, as most of my gaming is done on the cube.

max payne 1 is a good game that can run on slower computers fine. it has a great storyline, great gameplay, and great atmosphere. it's replay value is low though.

I would Recommend:

1)Guild Wars with Faction - Awesome game, huge value for the price
2)Oblivion - The currently best looking graphx
3)Half life2 - Well we all know that one
4)Fear
5)Gothic 2 with night of the raven
6)GTA San Andreas

... it comes with both Windows and Mac versions. Same with Warcraft 3, but that's an older game.

Then, of course, there's always... StarCraft.

Half Life 2 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Oblivion is fantastic, dozens of hours of gameplay (at least), the best looking graphics around and incredibly immersive gameplay.

I've been out of the xp-on-mac loop for a few weeks, whats the current driver situation? Do regular PC (ie XP) drivers work perfectly?

3) Bf2
4) AoE (any of them)
5) The Sims 1 + expansion packs (which can be picked up for nothing today)
