Just got my DS Lite. Gorgeous.

Hey guys. I've just received my DS Lite and wanted to share my first hand impressions with you.

I liked my DS very much but had some issues with it:

- Screen not bright enough
- Screen viewing angle too narrow
- Difficult to adjust sound level at lower settings
- Some static in the sound output at lower settings
- A little too big and heavy
- Stylus too small to hold comfortably (gave me cramps)
- Very badly positioned power button (Lost many games trying to pause the action ^_^)

I'm glad to announce that all these problems have been crossed off my list. The DS Lite is simply gorgeous and the new screen makes for a whole new gaming experience. It's so bright it'll probably give me a nice tan in time for summer.

By the way. They are now in stock at the usual imports online stores. (Gotta pay a little premium)

North America availability hasn't been officially announced yet by Nintendo. Some "insider" rumors said that it would probably be shipping to US on May 15, at the same time as New Super Mario Bros DS game. (If they stop changing the date). Take it with a grain of salt.

Congrats! I'm pretty sure that since I find the DS a bit SMALL for my hands that I will be hanging onto it for the foreseeable future. The tiny stylus kills me, too... I have to remember to order a "full sized" pen/stylus combo. I need a good new pen, anyways.

My only complaint has been the volume control. And I also have a stuck pixel (blue), but I think I'm too damn lazy to get that fixed.

I'm waiting for mine too... :D Got a Crystal White one and got it only a tad bit earlier from those eBay guys than when it's back in stock in the import stores but at not that much of a difference... I can't wait.. so excited, I already got some games delivered by Amazon and no DS Lite to play it with TT_TT how sad... Stupid boyfriend is a PSP fan, he is constantly complaining "why did you get a DS, get a PSP..." but the DS Lite is even prettier than the PSP Ceramic White now :P And all the good games coming out... can't wait :D

Yup. It was very informative. But after seeing this I still had some questions, mainly about the volume and sound problems of the original DS. I thought that some people might be interested to know it has been fixed and that the DS are now shipping if anybody else wanted to join the bandwagon. ;)

No it isnt. 45 Euro is 62 Can $. Still too expensive, but still $30 less than your making out :rolleyes:

I got it from LikSang… for way too much. :o ($200) It's worth every penny. It's going to be consderably cheaper when released states side. An estimated $145-150 when comparing Japanese price for DS Lite and Fat.

We usually get pretty decent prices for games in Canada. We're on par with US prices I think. I paid $45 (CAD) for Metroid Prime Hunters. We do have the lowest worldwide prices for iTunes song though. ;)

I went for the white one. It goes so well with the rest of the Apple hardware. ^_^ The NAvy blue looks classy though and would have been my second choice.

Those DS Lites sure do look purdy. But I already have a DS, so I couldn't justify a purchase of a DS Lite.

I also got the white one for even more overprice [230$] on eBay... [while the Navy and Ice Blue go only for 210$!!!] but it comes with free screen protector [supposedly make me feel better about paying the overprice bill :P] Maybe the DS Lite will come out on June 1st :rolleyes: international children's day, prefect day to release something... Plus, summer should be started then for elementary and high school [uni is already off :mad: I shoud have stayed in Ottawa] so parents will be more vulnerable to kids' nagging and those that promise "If you get an A..."

Mario got pushed a week later I believe. And I know we are retroffiting the current DS interactives in stores with the DS Lite starting the first week of June. Usually when the interactives are retrofitted the product hits stores either that week or the week before.

I don't use the toothpick stylus with the DS, I have a stylus from an eMate. They're plentiful and cheap on eBay.

IGN did a review on this stylus that you can mold to your liking....i will check that out once i get my hands on the lite.

yeah, the DS [and Lite] is region free so you can play any game [and it support several languages too, not just Japanese] That does look awfully like black bu maybe it's just navy with dark lightning... they're speculating that there might be a black version when it's out in the US

yea thats a blue one. very very dark indeed. inbetween the light and dark you can see a bit of colour so it isn't just pure black.

gotta love that screen. I'd love to see a comparison with a GBA Micro. That screen blew me away. anything more would have me crying tears of joy

It still looks smaller than my Toshiba PocketPC stylus. I'd probably keep that, unless this new one rests on that squidgy bit between the pointing finger and the thumb *gotta love the terminology*

It's Puyo Puyo Fever Chuu (2). It's out in the states, I think. I know the first one is. Puyo Puyo Fever. I think in the states it's "Puyo Pop Fever" or something.

The first one is bilingual, but the second is only Japanese. I have the first one for Mac.

But anyway it's a puzzle game like tetris, but you try to eliminate little puyos (blobs) by creating chain reactions. Your gomi (garbage) then get's dumped on who ever your playing against. The more chains you get the more your character says and does a little animations and attack.

It's rather corny. :p I used to hate puyo puyo. My team would play it all the time. Then one day when no one was in the room I decided to play it, and I thought it was so much fun.

Got my Lite a few weeks ago and love it (enamel navy). I got it from ebay, and it had 2 stuck pixels. I never sent it back 'cause you can only see them when the screen is black (which is almost never).

I'm loving tetris DS, and right now I'm playing Yoshi's Island (GBA game). I might end up buying another Lite when they come out in the states 'cause my girlfriend plays mine so much that I barely even see it anymore.
