View Full Version : My Mac is Sluggish, HELP!

At work here we have two machines that are pretty much identical.

The machine I use is a G4 450 with 60GB hard drive, and it runs smooothly, it has one disk with a 37GB capacity and another with 20GB capacity. I run OS 9.2 (soon 10.2 as well!)

Now, the other machine is also a G4 450mhz, with a 20GB hard drive, split over three sections, and a new 80GB hard drive, without splitting. Running OS 9.1 and it runs slowwwwly in Illustrator 9, and/or Acrobat 5, you need to start shutting other programs down once they're going (especially if its at the same time).

NOW, the 20GB Mac HD has only 800MB free, but the other two disks it is split into have 1GB and 18GB left in them...

I hope I haven't lost anyone by this point, but, is there anyway to get that 20GB disk, merged back into the one Mac HD drive, and will that increase performance? Or would it be no better

Thanks for any help (if you understood all that)

I don't believe that there is away to "unpartition" the drive without losing your data. I am not even sure that would speed things up that much-18 GB is a lot. Although there might be a problem with the 800 MB...

Yea, doesn't 9 use empty drive space for VM?
