Yay! Snow day! I can finish my research paper, and my outline, and study for my math test and SLEEP! Anyone else here get a snow day, or enough snow to justify not going to work?

We had a mini blizzard on Monday, it was just awful, tons of cars having accidents right before me but i had to keep moving or i couldnt get enough traction. Had to go in tho, i was interviewing for a new job and wanted to show how devoted i was. the good news is, they hired me right away :) so i start my new job in an hour...
yay!
now, we just need another snowstorm so i can start missing work :D

Damn snow days. I was looking forward to going to class. Snow on the weekend, when there would be no class, would be fine for me. :(

GET OVER IT!!
No snow here in Tokyo. I would probably go to work if it snowed heavily anyway, but it is already 10.00 pm and I am home watching 'Profiler' on SkyPerfect TV (satellite). Boring, but I am tooooo sleepy to go out, and I have a party 2morrow anyway (yeah!!)
i want to make a snowman on my balcony, so i hope it does snow here soon.
Those of you with a snow day - ENJOY!!

Yeah, snow day, woohoo......
I work, so all it means is that the traffic is bad and hazardous, I have to shovel my sidewalk and driveway (1 hour shoveling) and still go to work.
At least the dog had fun ;)

I did say - ENJOY, I just couldn't quite understand your not wanting a snow day on a week day. What is the point of a snow day if it is a holiday anyway. I would kill for a 3 day weekend, snow or otherwise. If you get a snow day King Cobra, and you want to go to class, can I have it!!?

I'm not sure, but i think i sensed a bit of facetiousness in KC's post, but if you're kidding too, it's all good. :)

All in fun...and I guess with half of our MacRumors cohorts having a day off, we are going to have some wacky threads showing up all day (or night in my case)
PS - I hate flaming - except on PC wanna-bees!!

What did you guys down in LI get about a half an inch of snow?
That's all it takes to close schools down there, kind of sad. We got an inch and a half and the kids up here got a 1 hour delay.
I on the otherhand still have to go to work, we don't get it so easy.

We got about 6 inches of wet snow. Most of it will be gone by the end of the weekend.
I'm still waiting for the 2' of snow, those are always fun - totally shut the city down. :D

Right now we have about 5", with it still coming down. My district has a lot of teacher out east, and thats where the buses come from too, so we close for anything more than 3". Generally.

Got about 7" in Philly. Left home early and walked the tiny old back streets into work. Took some pics. Gorgeous sticky snowball making stuff...

Yeah, so much for the snow - its going to be Melt Day tomorrow, even though a lot of it made slush today. Some of the puddles in the streets were quite large.
But DC is weird, a little snow and the city shuts down, people take it as an excuse to take the day off. Oh well.
At least is was a little more quite at the office.

Still snow on the ground in Oklahoma, but not enough to cause any school or work closings...

It snowed about 2 inches where I live last night and early this morning. Now it's 5:30 and the snow is all off of the streets.

in foxboro, there is close to 10 inches of snow, but at school in dartmouth, we only have about 6. still awesome though, theres nothing nicer to look at than snow falling in the evening through orange streetlights.
We need the snow bad. This weekend is the banked slalom at Mt Baker, and it aint gonna be that banked!
I'm going anyway. It's fun to ride even if it is just hardpack.

Were you around for the Blizzard of '78? I lived in Nebraska then.

You may have quite a wait, that was a once in a century type of storm. Maybe it won't be too long before >100" in a season like in '93-'94 & '95-96!;)

Where I live, today we are supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow.

I hear the Hill Country got some snow, but nothing here in the Woodlands/Houston area.
However, if the streets ice in the Woodlands, I might get out of school. This place doesn't even have the infrastructure to deal with adverse weather.

We've had a few days of snow here in the UK, off-and-on, in the last few weeks.
The biggest annoyance is that the country shuts down after a light dusting - not even 2 inches, and the trains stop running, and it takes 8 hours to travel 5 miles in the car (yes - I did get stuck on the M11 motorway two weeks ago... aaaarrrrgggghhh!).
What a place...

I swear to Jack, I look forward to class every day there is supposed to be class, even if I know it's going to be a long day.
(P.S. iAlan, if you moved about 12000Km closer to my home town I'll think about giving you the snow day. :D)
I was especially looking forward to class that Friday, because my parents had to leave for a weekend for semi-personal issues up 200+ miles away as soon as possible. Plus, if I had class that Friday we would have missed riding up with the storm, AND we wouldn't all be sitting and waiting for an hour on the road before being detoured around a jackknifed truck. That was horrible.
