I take it the 12" PB is a dead duck?
It's sitting there all on its own, looking small and lonely... arghh...

You would just not want the size of the 17" to choose the 15" for $300 less. For features, and extras over the MBP 15", you could not go wrong with the 17". I just wonder if they got the quality issues taken care of. And when will they be dropping the price of the 15" MBP's?

Hell Yeah!!!
$200 cheaper than I thought it might be, but I was seriously thinking that they were gonna introduce it at $3299 [same as the original 17" G4 PowerBook], so actually it's $500 less than I thought it would be.
It really looks to me like we may see both 15" MBP's come down $200 each when the processors price's drop at the end of May. Maybe even by as early as tomorrow or sometime this week in order to keep the Apple hype going at NAB and to really celebrate Apple's 30th! I wish this would be the case, but if the price reductions happen, they might happen alongside a MacBook announcement [shipping at the end of May of course  :D] later this week... or next Tuesday. :p
Only $300 difference between the 17" & 15" is way too little as far as I'm concerned. At least the $2499 model has gotta come down to $2299. If the $1999 model were to come down to $1799... schweeeet.

Good luck guys.

short answer: www.apple.com
longer answer: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/whatsinside.html
really long answer: On the main MBP page (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ ) there is a link in the right side bar, rather towards the bottom, called 'Complete Specifications'.

Told y'all it would be 1680x1050!! HA!:D  (It would'a been cooler with 1920x1200 though).
You were right about FW800, but I'm surprised that it's only ExpressCard/34...:(

They just stuck to their 115 dpi screen resolution rule for now. Leopard might change that.

Well that is a pleasant - sigh - relief. I thought I was gonna have a cow yesterday. I guess they wanted to pretend there was nothing to talk about when they could simply reveal the secret today when the show opens. I must say the FW800 port makes a huge difference. I still don't understand why it's not in the 15" model when it was before. Perhaps they got a lot of heat for not including it in the January model that was already in stone and added the FW800 as an afterthought?
The Apple site appears to be swamped. :)
Three USB2 Ports is a nice addition. Of course one of those may be where you have to stick the USB modem when you're in the boonies or at grandmas house. ;)
Nevertheless, this seems to be what the pro market needs on the port front. I'm seriously tempted to pull the trigger. What do you think Alden Shaw? :D

Somehow I don't really find this announcement to be a big deal. Nothing about the 17" is really a surprise, and we all knew it was coming.
Unfortunately, the problem that I have with buying an MBP is that they apparently run hot and have noisy fans. Having gotten an Intel iMac, I am so impressed by the difference it makes in my home when the computer is nearly silent that I will never buy a noisy computer again. Most PC fans really disturb the peace. A shame that Apple hasn't been able to do something about this, because I know that they would if they could. I am holding out hope that the thicker MacBook/iBook will run a bit cooler and have more sound-damping. Perhaps the cooler-running Merom will help when it is introduced into the MBP line.

You can hope all you like. In your dreams Josias. What MovieCutter and I are laughing so loud about is that there is no way the 17" MBP will sell for less than $2999. 24 hours and we'll know for sure. :D :)
$2999 PERIOD. [at least].
Sorry, dudes. No Final Cut Pro 6 or 17" MPB at NAB.
Apple has chosen to "Think Different" and BLOW Millions of Dollars worth of FREE PUBLICITY and BUZZ.
I am Mad , Shocked  and Confused  ... Oh. And LIVID!!!
Clearly, Apple are no longer interested in the professional media market...
I think it's more a case of taking that market for granted. This is blatant evidence of Apple's Extreme Arrogance. It amounts to a slap in the face of all who are attending NAB and all in that market - which is the entire multimedia industry - who expect Apple to face the press and answer some questions about this transition timeline so buyers can make intelligent plans for the next year. :(
OR
It's a case of Apple PR Incompetence, which I would not rule out.
I'm really glad you guys were all wrong. And I said there was no way it would have FW800, got that one wrong.
