Who can help me start this petition?
I personally find The Sims to be exceptionally anoying and lacking in creativity. I would compare it to the rush of ads for Psychics a few years ago and all the coffee stands that infect cities now days.

Nice sentiment, wrong approach. Start a petition to prevent any more Sims games period.

We could do that instead. I have never played a sim game that I truly thought was original and good. I am of course referring to the genre of sim games and not to simulators.

I'm sure many Mac-users enjoy Sim games such as SimCity and The Sims. I don't see why these games shouldn't come out for MacOS just because some people don't like them.

I just think there a lame over worked genre. If they are going to do it they should do something new and inspiring instead of releasing a mod of a mod of a mod of a mod of a.......
I didn't actually create this thread to stop them bringing over the sims games I did it more just to get a reaction from people. It's kind of an over worked piece of sarcasm. Okay!?

The best solution is just not to buy the game if you dont like it. I dont like it much but I would not ban it. The Sims is the best selling game of all time and if the Mac does not get it, then it will do a lot worse than it is doing now. I know one person that wanted a Mac but almost didn't get one because someone in a PC shop said you can't get The Sims for the Mac. They did get a Mac in the end because I showed them you could get Sims for the Mac. Also it is a very popular game with the female demographic, aages 11-35. about 45% of people that play the Sims are female and it is one of the only game women actually play in large numbers, so I doubt it will get baned for this reason allone. The game market is already too male orientated.

Then why'd you go through the trouble of making a post about it?
Seems like a waste of time.

To screw with ya. It's working isn't it.
Also I saw the thread about the poll for The Sims Online and I thought to myself what about those of us that hate The Sims and hope they would just vanish from existence. Thus this thread was born and a whole new way to get people all worked up was formed.:D

as much as I like the game it is kind of sad that people spend so much time nurturing their "family" and "interpersonal" relationships on the computer and ignore the real world

you must be really bored eh? I say if you dont like something as meaningless as a video game then just dont buy/play it, I personally dont worry about what other people spend their money on or what they play as long as it's not hurting anyone.
Oh and try reading a book with your spare time.....
(just adding to your "trying to screw with ya.." sentiments.....)

I just hate people that want to ban something that lots of other people like. As long as it does not do any harm they should be allowed to do it. There are some people that will try to ban anything that they find the slightess bit annoying. For example, in the UK people have tried to get the tennis to be shown on satelite or not shown at all because it often replaces more popular TV programmes if it over-runs. At the moment it is shown on the BBC, which everyone in the UK has access to, but if it was moved to another channel then a lot of the people that like tennis would not be able to watch it.

What is really funny is that I figured the thread would die as soon as I admitted that I did it just to get people worked up but I was wrong. People are continuing to post about how they hate people for this or that because they don't like something they like or something. Well people let the thread die. It was a joke. Get it I was just trying to get a reaction. Some people are really dense.

I am just trying to say why people get worked up against it, not trying to have a go at you.

Thanks but I know why people get worked up about it. That is the reason I created the thread in the first place. To get people worked up.
Things were to quiet I just had to give the hornets nest a wack.:)

naw i think the sims is a great idea that EA and Aspyr have been trying to use for much too long to the point where the expansion packs are really boring and pointless.

Exactly. Though I also believe that the original idea was lacking in some creativity.

I really though the original Simcity had some potential but it lost my interest after just a few short hours. It just seems that there isn't enough options and creative development put into them. The later iterations of SimCity leave a lot to be disired and are very little then a modification of the original package and still lacks options and true creativity.
In my oppinion the last great sim games were Sim Ant and Sim Life. After those everything else just sucks.

But isn't it a good thing that you can improve on a game after it's been released ? Like Civilization 3 is essentially still the same as Civilization, only it's worked out a lot better. I wouldn't want to play the original Civilization now, it would feel too awkward.
Doom 3 will probably be (basically) the same as Wolfenstein 3D, the game Deimos Rising that's included with new macs is basically just Space Invaders, and so on.
The question then remains whether you should ask people to pay up again for the newer version.

You are correct that many of the games you listed are just newer ideas on an older game but in the case of most of them they are a completely new approach with vastly different game play. Where as SimCity plays the same no matter what version you have same goes for The Sims and all the other games like that now. Civilization is just a little better the the sims games just enough to put it outside of my radar of despisal.

I have no problem with SimCity and that series of games. They were fun back in the day.
That said, the game The Sims and its additions and updates could go away and I would not care. I have never played them and from what I hear, they are worthless.

A petition is a waste of time, the easiest vote to be heard by game makers is when you vote with your wallet. :P

This is just a bit of sarcasm and if such a thing does happen in the near future I had absolutely nothing to do with it.
