hi all,
as some know, i am developing...er...a piece of software
http://liberalmac.gwtall.com/legacysystems/)
and i sent an email to the adc about it, and possibly selling it to apple.
when i got home from school today, my mom told me APPLE COMPUTER CALLED AND ASKED FOR ME!!!
she said she thought it was probably just some offer to get applecare or something, but i, being the crazy optimist that i am, wondered if this may be concerning the development of my software
a few minutes ago, i thought to myself, was this just a prank from a friend who knows im a mac fanboy?
well, i looked at our caller id logs and sure enough,
916-399-7992
APPLE COMPUTER
does anyone know if this the operating system development people or just a marketing number? if anyone knows, please post before a die of anxiety for possibility that actual devs at apple called for ME :)
thanks:)

i wouldn't want to disturb His Steveness :)
they said they'd cal back, didn't tell my mom to tell me to call 'em, but hey, i'm calling them now...
EDIT:
thank you for calling apple
from time to time, we call customers to inform them about new services and products
you call was either about mac os x tiger, the new imac G5 (yes, they said G5, not intel, i guess they're just pushing those), or our apple protection plan
call 1-800-MY-APPLE to learn more about our great products
thank you for calling apple
DARN,DARN, DARN!
anyone know who to actually contact at apple about development who will actually be a human, any not be from the paid adc membership help thing?
fiddlesticks! and i though i was gonna be a millionaire!

I just want to point out how amusing it is to me that no one seems to have any faith in Democrat622. I'm not saying it's possible, but at least I'm not saying it's impossible.
I'll cross my fingers for you. :D

Well, I can't say I blame them. ;)
Still, all I told apple was that I'm a student...
OK, even I admit, no way I will ever be hired by apple inthe next 10 years:mad:

Yeah, you have no chance of working at Apple without going to college and getting a degree in something like computer science....even then, you're chances are very slim.

You could probably get a job there sweeping floors without a college degree...

Yeah, you were going to be a millionaire alright. Some kid having a little computer project, one without any information about it on the site, by the way. Riches and fame.

Out of interest, what does your software do? Is it the OS?
We can’t believe it, but this is for real. We are coding a BSD based operating system with an implementation of BASIC. We’ve got lots of great features planned, and they’re coming soon (or maybe not very soon, but sometime down the road). Before you know it, this screen of black and white will transform itself into the most advanced and elegant graphical user interface ever. Please come back and visit the site for links to downloads (when the time for that comes) and more great info!

It's an "Operating System" AFAIK. See the slams here:

And he cannot get the URL for his site correct.. it's actually:

As far as I know, AFAIK stands for Apple Fanboys Are Incredibly Kind. :D Although if you ask me, the attitude in this thread would suggest otherwise.

Ahh.. changed it from above? http://liberalmac.gwtall.com/legacysystems/?
Cause that one doesn't work.. so you should edit all your posted links to the one that doesn't work and point it at the one that does.. Which is http://liberalmac.gwtall.com/Welcome.html
Or fix the broken one.. Which is http://liberalmac.gwtall.com/legacysystems/

That would require setting up a redirect...which would use up valuable time that would be better used doing OS programming. ;)

I think maybe the OP should take a gander at how/where Apple got the idea for Dashboard/Dashboard Widgets.

Sorry, not buying it just because that dude says so. A lot of his argument is technical in nature, but doesn't really mean anything. It's about the concept. Do I know 100% where the Tiger engineers got the idea? No. Does J. Gruber? No. But IMO, the concept came from Konfabultor.
