Help!!!

Arrrrgh, my mac aint goin :mad: here's the details if anyone can help me please.

Power Computing Power Tower Pro 225
604e Processor
Running OS 8.6
216megs ram
SCSI 2 gig hard drive
SCSI 9 gig hard drive
Nine imagine 128 8meg graphics card (main monitor)
another vid card on the second monitor


The problem, I turn on the mac, dong noise goes, I can hear the hard drives spin up. Screens are turned on and nothing appears, not even the grey screen with a little flashing folder if it is my hard drive. The hard drives sit on idle mode and don't make the ticking noise it usually does when it boots up, so it can't be my graphics card.

Any suggestions???

I dunno - it sounds like it could well be your graphics card. If the card is faulty, then the computer won't proceed any further than the initial boot-up.

Try the basics, like zapping the PRAM, and perhaps by booting up with the OS install CD whilst holding down the C key.

You could also try a 3rd party repair/diagnostics program like Norton Utilities or Techtools Pro - boot up from the supplied Emergency disk, and see what happens.

Check the connections on your monitor - wiggle the cable, or plug them into another source (perhaps another computer?) to check if the tube is OK...

Wait untill it gets to that point and force restart.

That works for me on an old 7500 I have, it does the same thing at startup 95% of the time.

I have no idea why it does it, but it has been pulled apart and put back together so many times I supprised it works at all.

Two things I know are wrong with it are, a broken interface pin on the SCSI HDD and stuffed a Floppy drive and/or not properly chipped HDD's.

If you have two video cards, why don't you try them each independently. Try booting with only one and see what happens. Then swap that out and go to the other one. If there is a problem with the video, then one card should allow you to boot and the other will cause it to hang like you are experiencing now. Just a possibility, since I wouldn't expect them to both break at one time.

I cant get the grey screen on either screens...the hard drives don't boot, they just spin up. I have a suspicion on the MOtherboard or CPU. Any Idea's?

Hard drives sit on idle, no grey screen if it is a problem with my hard drive I should still be gettin the grey screen, shouldn't I???
I can turn on the computer from the power button on the keyboard, my wacom tablet has power to it, my router signals that the computer is connected...but I can't get any grey screen.

Don't worry guys, I figured it out. It turned out to be a reset button on the motherboard. "Cuda Rst" pressed it with doubts, and luckly a warm welcome of the grey screen i saw. not just a blank screen... Anyway thanks for your posts.
