I use a mac for desktop publishing, and know nothing about the audio production side.

I need to produce a radio commercial (just for school) and need to know what software i should use (something equivalent to Cool Edit Pro)

I will need to record, add SFX, sequence and then master a CD, so please let me know what software does all this, or let me know if i need more than one program.

Thank you for your help, and let me know if there is anything i can do for you.

For such a simple project, just use Pro Tools Free for recording, SFX, mixing, etc.

Use iTunes3 for mastering and burning a CD.

Just use iTunes 3. It can join separate audio tracks into 1 audio track. Write your copy. Rehearse. Record it. Select your music, then join. Just make sure the tracks are the exact same length and format.

Otherwise, I suggest Authentic Sound Studio for Mac OS X. They have a free demo. Price to buy is $49.95.

You can try Tonos TC8. It is good program, but I haven't tried it on Mac OS X. It doesn't say it won't work on X. Just try the demo and see.
