A fundamental problem is that we have, over centuries now, cultured almost exclusively the male archetype (in men and women of almost all religions, cultures and nations). As in the root 'pater', fatherland, paternal, patriot... as opposed to the female references (mater-nal, matter, mother earth). Neither is 'good' or 'bad' but there has been such an enormous imbalance for a long time to the point where people have little sense of what they are saying or doing.

Oh yes, the mere mention of 'goddess' could be perceived by some as 'unconventional' 'flaky', and especially from the 'god' worshippers point of reference, 'satanic' or whatever. The mention of any mythical entity at all, such as the monotheistic 'god' we have been hearing rumors about for centuries seems no less 'flaky'.

'Patriotic', 'patriot act', 'homeland', 'security' blanket etc..it smacks of infantile based language, the comforts of home or being 'taken care of' by a 'paternal' daddy government. We never grow up. This is why I think it is useful to develop a sensitivity to language and it's roots, definitions and to be vigilant about it. Language is a virus or more accurately, a meme. The gift of the gab is usually harmless, but in a salesperson, or especially, a politician...beware.
