Hi there,
I have a stock 1.83GHz MacBook Pro. It works fine (has the whine though) but I injured it. The metal on the front is very slightly bent and I knocked the F8, 8 and 9 keys off the keyboard (I think they snapped so can't be put back on, and are lost). If anyone is interested in trading their MacBook Pro 1.83 with no issues for mine + £250 please let me know.
Thanks

You can get a replacement keyboard for about £100 - don't think it would be tough to fit...why don't you try fixing it?

Some credit cards offer a 90 day accident cover on anything bought with them. So maybe ring up ur credit card company if u bought it on credit.

I bought it with cash so can't do that. I'll see about getting a replacement keyboard. Thanks.

Just my opinion, but I think if the MBP is the way you describe it, it'd be worth a shot to fix it yourself. You can get a brand new keyboard for less than the bonus you're offering. I am not Apple certified, but two people I know at the University Tech Shop are. Not to boast or put them down, but I think I am more qualified then them. I do IT work for the University I attend and I just had to get a Professor a new MBP keyboard. As I recall I ordered it from welovemacs,
I'm 99% sure this exact one that I ordered:

If you do some research and are pretty sure its legit, there is a MBP keyboard listed on eBay for $70 US.. obviously you'd wanna do the usual eBay background check:

As for the bending you mentioned. How bad is it? Minor and un-noticeable? If so then replace the keyboard, and try to fix the minor aesthetic stuff yourself.
If it is warped/can barely close the lid, there still some hope for getting it back into shape (other than Apple's $700 repair fee, or ordering an overpriced replacement for the casing which requires opening up the MBPs guts..)
I dropped my last Powerbook more than a few times.. the last time was a doosey, causing some unpleasant aesthetic damage. I got a ball-peen hammer from the hardware store and opened it up. I was able to knock the dents out and make it alot better! I also was able to fix some bending with a few various techniques. Once I put a thick textbook on the closed powerbook then placed a 20 pound weight on the textbook .. lol (I was a little desperate).. another time I fixed some LCD misalignment just by gently and slowly pulling on on a corner and pushing on another. A gentle clamp might help.. The plastic on the PB/MBP case is pretty soft (almost too soft, but I guess it keeps it light)..
If you replace the keyboard you'll have a better chance trading/selling it anyway. People tend to shy away from blind internet buying when physical damage or the appearance of possible damage is mentioned. Post some pics if you want some advice on how to fix it cheap, or sell it.

Hi there,
Can't find any stores int he UK which are selling the MBP keyboards, only stores in the US seem to have them. Also the ben isn't very bad at all and it doesn't stop the thing from shutting or opening or anything but it just doesn't look as good as it used to.
Thanks

note this is a british thread.
i've seen macbok pro's go for as low as 900 quid, but that was with a local pickup only seller in bristol who wanted bank transfer or cash.

Hi there,
I have two 20" iMacs although it would be nice to have an iMac for my dad, he needs to get a mac his PC is awful. I need my MBP really for the next few weeks because I have exams, but if you can wait until the end of June then I'll buy me a maxed out 2.16GHz 2GB MacBook (spoil myself, excuse is end of exams :D) and I'll trade this for that iMac of yours for my dad, if you can wait that long, sure.
Thanks
