Yes. You need Unreal Tournament to use the Tactical Ops Mod. You can probably find UT for 10 or 15 bucks now. I think the webpage for TO is http://www.tactical-ops.de/

I just downloaded the public preview and it requires the full version of unreal in order to run it. So that's why I was wondering if theres like a demo that lets me play it in multiplayer.

Last I saw UT game of the year was $19.00 us. so its pretty cheap

I posted this in the other thread:

There is a Unreal Mod to made to look like CS.

Now what does this tell me...?

Which do I get? AHHH!

Yeah this is way weird.

I would try them both Quake might run better than unreal in osX. I haven't tried it yet, but will probably go get it noe that I've heard about this mod. TO will work in OSX, but you will be using a Beta Unreal.
Try the Quake if you dont like it you can always get UT. The good thing is there are plenty of mods out there so you can always have fun.

I know it is impossible now... but we have like 3-4 threads on CS alone...
1 - Unreal mod-like CS
1 - Quake mod for CS
1- Possible steam coming for CS
1? - Just CS

I'm so very confused because here. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?threadid=20170) there is one mod quake... and here you pointed me to both unreal mods and more quake mods.

I am so very confused. I think I'll comprehend this tommorow so I can find which is better and who plays it more...and so forth...

[/ends post as brain starts to leak our of ears]
Oh no that isn't a good sign...

I would highly doubt either steam or CS EVER coming out for mac. The alternatives are very good and playable. Browse different mods and see what you like to play. The good thing with mods is they are free and usually offer relativley good support.

Yeah steam isn't coming to mac... ever, but there are how many quake/Unreal mods out there?

Ech too many, when I get back from my trip (if I get to leave) I'll buy both I suppose...

There are a ton of mods for both. I play unreal mods because thats what I have. CS is based on half life which is a QUAKE ENGINE. Unreal is a newer engine therefore it tends to have prettier maps. It also seems easier to modify. I would stick to Unreal because they say a lot of the mods will be compatible with UT2003. If you want a list of mods do a google search and see which ones you like. I can give you a list of the ones I play for UT
The Third Reich
Infiltration
Tac Ops

Tactical Ops is just better than CS, and for us Mac gamers I advice anybody who likes FPS games to try it.

A new version (TO 350 Community Patch) has just come out and is great gameplay.

Please visit www.macologist.com to find a downloadable Unzip&Play version or just contact me @ nonylusat9onlinedotfr

yeah there's tons of mods for UT and quite a lot for Q3 too. If you want to play a good mod, then i recomend True Combat for Q3 and NeoTokyo for UT2004. Strike Force + Silent Assassins are great for the older UT game. Try Nali Chronicles too, i've downloaded this but yet to install.... There's also Infiltration for UT too.
