Could the Lyra (http://www.time.com/time/2003/ces/?cnn=yes) put a spike in the iPod sales??

RCA Lyra Audio Video Jukebox
With a 3.5-in. color video display on an iPod-like music jukebox, this 20GB player will keep track of MP3s, home videos, still photos and other files. Like other jukeboxes, you can transfer data from a PC using the high-speed USB 2.0 connection; what's different this time is that you can record TV shows from a TiVo or VCR, with up to 80 hours of programming on the lowest setting. You can also play back everything on a TV or stereo.

Price and availability: $400; Summer 2003

wow, thats tight

I like it, but I think the iPod was only intended to be a music box. But if they new ipod included video, I'd buy one in a snap

Hard to say. Reading it's list of features lends one to think this unit has potential however the iPod is not popular because of it's features set but how easily it is to access large music collections. In essence Apple knows that it goes beyond features and useability must be there.

Until you can actually test drive this unit out you will have no idea.

I'm not too jazzed on the USB2. In addition to the LCD screen eating battery power you don't have the nifty Firewire charging available to the iPod.
