After running OSX from day one and not having a classic environment I find myself in need of OS9. Problem is my origional OS9 disks from a comp I had way back seems to be scratched or in some way corrupted. I have an origional apple OS9 upgrade disk - any way to make this a full install like the old trick of adding a file called win.com in windows. Please don't bag me and tell me to buy a copy as my local Mac stores cannot give me a delivery date.

unfortunately, apple's installer discs that come with computers are computer specific. i believe they get a gestalt ID, which is a number denoting any model of Mac.

i've not heard of any method of getting them to work on other machines.

i'm very disappointed that OS X doesn't come with 9.2 install CDs... as are other people, it's becoming difficult to get a copy of 9.

people on Apple's forums recommend looking for used copies at different stores, you can pick up a full installer for $10-20 i think...
