iPod and 24-bit audio files

As most pro-audio (and consumer) systems can now use 24-bit encoding, does anyone think we'll see 24-bit play back on the iPod soon, and would you welcome it?

While we're about it, how about optical AC-3 or DTS digi output for 5.1 systems?

how bout some built in bluetooth then once recievers get hip to bluetooth you wont need any cables to blast your tunes via your iPod on home or car speakers.

However someone can easily try playing back a 24bit AIFF file or something to try.

I don't think the improvement in quality would be worth the size of each song.

16bit: SNR=96dB
24bit: SNR>100dB;

If iPod's signal-to-noise-ratio is 96dB, then 16bits are enough, and other 8 bits in 24bit file actually be used to "represent" nothing but the noises.
